“SHUT UP!” she howled, kicking at his face.

He landed on the floor, sobbing brokenly as he begged for her forgiveness, but I wasn’t any more fooled by his act of contrition than she was.

If he had to do it all over again, the only thing he would have done differently was ensure Dahlia didn’t get shot, too. He didn’t care about his twin daughters. He only cared about himself.

I was glad that Bianca could see through his transparent pleas.

“Your wishes will always be my command, Bianca,” I promised her, raising the pen.

“No, wait! Stop!”

I froze, surprised by her sudden change of heart. She shook her head and turned my arm away, lowering her voice.

“No,” she said again as I eyed her quizzically. “Not like this.”

My jaw twitched, but I waited for her to elaborate. Instead, she led me toward the door and asked me to wait.

“No! I’m not leaving you alone with him.”

“I won’t hurt her! I swear, Atlas!” Eugene called, overhearing my protest.

“You’ll forgive me if I think your word is shit, Eugene, won’t you?” I retorted, my eyes still fixed on my mate.

She shook her head and reached for the pen in my hand.

“You can stay in the room, but I have something I want to say to him,” she said.

My brow furrowed. “I can do this for you, Bianca.”

“Please, Atlas. Give this to me,” she insisted.

I nodded, swallowing the rest of my arguments.

“Two minutes,” I growled, waiting by the door, eyes narrowing as they set on Eugene.

To his credit, the man didn’t attempt to move or run. I could see his little hamster brain running a mile a minute, trying to figure out how to get himself out of the mess he had created.

“Bianca…”

She turned to look at me.

“No matter what he says, don’t forget what he’s done. To you, to Dahlia.”

She shook her head and smiled weakly.

“It’s pretty hard to forget that,” she breathed.

She took two more steps as her father turned to look up at her with innocent eyes.

“Bianca, my girl—”

“Stop. You do not get the last word, you son of a bitch,” she roared. “You deserve every bit of pain and torment that you’ll receive in your afterlife. And I want you to know that after today, I will never think about you again.”

“Bianca, I—”

It was as far as he got before the pen poked into his neck, precisely in the same spot that she had gotten Jesse. I blinked in shock. Bianca turned away with a sense of peace, despite her bloodstained face.

I rushed to her side, concern for her twinging through my heart.
