“You’re mean. A mean wolf.”

He made a face and smiled. What have I done to deserve such a God of a man in my life?

“What are you doing? I mean, during the day?” I was embarrassed to ask. Was it okay?

“Don’t worry, love. I’m not unemployed lying on the couch all day long.”

Blush covered my face. I was embarrassed. “I didn’t mean to upset you. That’s probably none of my business.”

“You can ask me whatever you like. Always. We don’t keep secrets from our mates.”

“We?”

“My pack. We run an international security service. We work mostly with sups, but we run gigs with humans occasionally. If you’re as old as we are, money isn’t an issue. I know you’re an independent woman, but you don’t have to work if you don’t want to. Plus, you have your trust fund.”

“Wait, what? How old are you?”

Soren smiled. “How old do I look?”

“Old enough to climb into my bed.”

He pinched me, and we kissed. “Seriously, how old do I look?”

“Forty, maybe?”

“You do flatter me. I’m three hundred and a bit.”

“A bit?”

“I think twenty, not sure. I was born in Sweden a long time ago.”

“And trust fund money? I don’t understand. Granny was always short on money.”

“You have over two million dollars in a trust fund. A bit more now, probably. Your grandmother didn’t want to touch the money that her mate, her husband, left her. She wanted a normal life, but the money was always there.”

“So, you mean we were rich, and she chose to be poor?”

“Yes. You’re rich. You can quit being a nurse if you want. You can do whatever it is you like.”

“And is this money legal?”

“The money in your account is legal. No one lives as long as me and doesn’t know how to launder some money.”

“Okay, wow. This is a lot to process. I need time.”

“You have time, all the time. Starting today, you and I are bound, which means you’ve stopped aging.”

“This is a lot. I mean, is that a side effect if you have sex? Does that happen with all women you sleep with?”

“You have so many questions.” He pushed a delicate cup in front of me. “Here, drink some tea.”

“It’s Assam, my favorite.” I don’t like tea, but how often will there be a sexy, tattooed, shirtless man offering me some in my kitchen? If I’m lucky, often. But I’m not. Granny was not that lucky. Her mate died.

“I have so many questions.”

“Let’s take it one at a time. We have eternity to solve everything. Just FYI, the aging stops only with the mate. This doesn’t work with just anyone.”

Soren kissed me, and my mind decided to take a break.
