On that day, I could barely break free from him. His body made me crave him, and I wanted to keep talking. He walked me over to my truck and kissed me again as I entered the cab. My gorgeous mate stood there when I drove away.

On my way to work, it dawned on me that I should have asked him what he wanted to do tonight. But again, so long as it’s with Soren, it doesn’t matter.

Driving alone has a funny side effect. As the road stretched before me, I started to think about how my sex life used to be. I have only been with two guys other than Nick. Sex was never good for me, only I was too embarrassed to say anything. It was okay, and they were nice to me, but I never felt hunger. The best lover I had, and that was only in my imagination, was Dean from my favorite show. I was sure there could not be anything better and that I was one of those women who could not cum during sex. I accepted it.

Nick never asked me if I liked what he did to me. He was sweet in the beginning, but the longer we were together, sex became a chore. We did it on Friday night, after his show and before falling asleep.

Was Brenda the only one he cheated on me with, or was she the one he decided would be a suitable replacement for me?

Nick and I worked together. I helped him build his business from scratch, but I never felt the way I felt when I was with Soren. Nick would have gladly thrown me in front of a bus, but Soren is not like that. Soren would crash the bus to keep me safe. He knew me, offered me alternatives, and respected my opinion.

Aly whistled as soon as I entered the nurse’s station. “You had hot sex, and you had lots of it.”

“How do you… I mean, no.” My blushing and the giggles escaping my mouth said the contrary.

“Who was it? Was it Karl?”

“Yuck, no. No way. It was Soren.”

“Uhuh, go, girl. I love the sound of that name. Soren. Where did you meet? What happened? Tell me everything because I'm done with men after the catastrophe with Greg.”

I giggled.

“Soren is great. It’s all so fresh. I don’t want to jinx it.”

“Gimme something here.”

I leaned towards Aly and whispered. “He has a few badass tattoos on his chest. And he makes my toes curl.”

She started clapping, and I hushed her. We were still in a hospital.

“Okay, you don’t want to give me the dirty details, but what about some clean details? What do you know about him?”

“Well....” I stopped, trying to figure out what I could tell her. I couldn’t tell her that my love could shift into a wolf. I wasn’t sure I could wrap my mind around it yet. “It was love at first sight.”

“There you go, girrrrrl. I’m so happy for you.”

“Yes, it feels like flying.”

“What else? What does he do? How does he look? Show me a picture.”

“I don’t have a pic.”

“Oh, okay. Keep your new hot man hidden.”

“No, really, I don’t. He’s a partner in a security firm. He’s dreamy and has these gorgeous green eyes.”

Just as I said that it hit me. I don’t even know Soren’s last name.

Aly started asking questions and talking about men, and I let her. That way, I had a chance to think.

When I did my rounds, I took my phone and texted Soren.

I don’t know your last name.

He replied right away, so fast I didn’t expect it.

Wolf.
