Simon continued to introduce us. “Daithi is a faei, Zaide is a titan, and Alcor is a demon.”

Arabella’s mouth dropped open as she finally noticed Alcor. He stared back at her, the tension palpable. I imagined if Charlie were here, he would be getting snacks and settling into a chair to watch the drama.

“Nice to meet you all. Thanks for your help healing the protector. We can’t have the dragon flying out of this realm and causing havoc,” Isaac said with an easy smile. He stepped forward to wrap an arm around Arabella.

Alcor flinched beside me, and my heart lurched for him. She also looked slightly uncomfortable but didn’t move out of his arms. She’d moved on after she almost killed him. I glared in support of my new friend.

Poor Alcor. He clearly cares about her even though she betrayed him.

“You’re welcome. We’re happy to help in any way we can,” I responded emotionlessly.

He nodded his thanks. “We currently have scouts out looking for sightings of the dragon or leads on his whereabouts. We might need your help in a strategic attack. None of us have ever tried to take down something this big or this powerful.”

"I can't say we have either, but anything we can offer is yours." I shrugged, unsure what they were expecting us to do.

A phone buzzed, interrupting us, and Arabella rummaged in her coat, muttering apologies, before plucking it out and answering. Her face paled. "Send her last location to us, and we'll look. Thank you for letting me know."

"What's wrong?" Isaac asked, tucking her back into his arms again.

She shrugged him off and frowned. "Rose has gone missing. She didn't check in, and her phone is off. We need to go."

"Rose is an agent of yours?" I clarified.

"Yes," she said without looking up from her phone.

"Do you think this is the dragon or something else? We shouldn't be losing agents to realm slavers anymore since the portals are shut." Isaac hovered over her, looking down at her phone too. The others closed in around them to look at her screen or pulled out their own phones, presumably to see if they had lost any of their agents.

"I don't know, but she wouldn't just—" she mumbled.

While I wasn't completely heartless about the agent in trouble, I also didn't see how I could help and instead turned to Alcor, who was unable to move his gaze away from the purple-haired witch.

"Are you okay?" I asked Alcor quietly.

His jaw unclenched, and his fingers stopped tapping as words spilled hastily from his lips. "She is an agent for the council, but she took my fire. She is with another. I am confused and hurt and angry."

My eyebrow raised, and I nodded slowly. "It is good that you are honest about your emotions. If you don't want to help because of her, I wouldn't blame you."

He shook his head but still didn't look at me. He didn't blink as he watched her now chatting with the others. "I want answers. She knows I do. She can see it. And I'll be staying as close to her as possible until she gives them to me."

Her phone buzzed again, and when she looked at it, she said, "Looks like her last location was near a warehouse? What was she doing there?"

"Did you say warehouse?" I asked loudly, drawing the attention of everyone in the room. My heart was thudding loudly as my mind made connections.

"Yeah, why? Does that mean something to you?" Isaac frowned and leaned on the chair in front of me.

I nodded. "That's where Clawdia said she’d found the dragon."

"Who's Clawdia?" he asked, confusion and frustration written across his face.

Arabella didn't care who Clawdia was. She asked, "She's found the dragon?"

"It's in a warehouse?" Robert muttered to himself.

"You only just thought to tell us now?" Omaira glared with her hands on her hips.

Savida entered the room with a bowl of something that had curls of steam coming from it. He paused, a spoon to his mouth, when he saw everyone. "What have I missed?"

I stood up slowly and looked down at them from my full height, crossed my arms across my chest, and told them calmly, "Clawdia is my soul pair who disappeared this morning. She told me she had found the dragon in a warehouse and would be coming back as soon as she could. She hasn't contacted me since. If your agent has found the dragon and is in the same warehouse as Clawdia, they will be together."
