“Do you wish me harm?” I asked, feeling my father's grip tense around my arm.

“After what you have been prophesized to become, I would be a fool indeed to even attempt it after witnessing what you are capable of… for in truth, you surpassed even my greatest vision.” My eyes widened in surprise when hearing this, making me reach up and gently try to uncurl my father's fingers from my arm while telling him softly,

“It's okay, Dad, I trust he won't hurt me.” My father looked down at me in shock before asking, incredulously,

“Remember that you’re putting that trust in the Devil, my child.” I took his hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze before replying,

“No, I am putting that trust in the father of the man I love… besides, I have a feeling that he had a hand in this.” I looked to my mother to see her biting her lip and realized, in that moment, that I wasn't the only one thinking the same thing. Draven looked to my mother who nodded, agreeing with my decision. He released a heavy sigh and let me go, meaning I was free to walk towards the God of Hell.

As for Lucifer, he watched me do this with great interest as every move I made was one he took careful note of. Then, when I was close enough for my own liking, I stopped, still having to look up at him due to his colossal height. He was so big, he would have made Ragnar seem like a normal height.

“Brave girl, and it is now easy to see.”

“Easy to see what?” I asked with a questioning frown.

“To see what it is he is so obsessed with and why he would go to great lengths in hiding you from me.” I took a quick breath knowing he was talking about Lucius.

After this he took a few steps closer, and his long legs cut the space between us in a single heartbeat. I had never before wanted so badly to take steps back to counteract this action. But I also knew that when faced with a man such as he, the King of Kings, in this brutal realm, then gaining his respect was only going to be done with the bravery he had praised me for having.

I knew this to be true when his eyes glowed and that spark of interest in me was deepening by the second. Then I felt almost as if the entirety of Hell behind me all took a collective held breath as he reached out towards me. However, this nation’s breath was released all at once when his actions ended with a tender touch and not bloodshed like everyone feared. The backs of his metal clad fingers were cold as they made their way down my cheek. But this was when he surprised me the most, for it wasn't his gentle gesture but more so the tender words that followed it.

“For so long I have waited, and now here you are. The most perfect soul created, and one I finally had a hand in.” At this I heard my mother snort a laugh and forgetting herself she muttered,

“I think I would have remembered you being there.” At this Lucifer grinned, and said to her,

“Oh, but I was, as you don't think I took all of the blood of a God inside you, do you?” At this my mother gasped as her hand went to her belly as if remembering that day.

“No, I just gave it to someone else and as for Lucius, my most perfect son, well then it was Fated that when she was born, he be trusted to keep it safe for her.” The moment he said this I tensed.

“What… what do you mean?” My mother gasped the question, making Lucifer smirk down at me.

“You didn't tell them?” he asked in an amused tone, making me reply with the obvious truth,

“We have all been a little busy… me especially.”

“Ah yes, I must say you have made these last few weeks in Hell very interesting, although your grandfather was quite worried,” Lucifer said as he looked behind him to where his friend, Asmodeus, stood and at hearing this, my grandfather winked at me.

“Amelia?” My father said my name in question, and I took a deep breath knowing there was no sense in prolonging it. The time had come for my next confession, only not exactly the God I would have thought being the one to witness it.

“Best get it over and done with, little one,” Lucifer said, leaning down slightly when gifting me this advice, before jerking his handsome head towards my parents. I nodded before releasing a deep and regretful sigh just as I turned to face them.

“I wasn't born mortal like you both thought.”

“What!?”

“What!?” Both my parents gasped, even though my mothers was whispered whereas my father’s was hissed.

“It seems as if it were possible for even a mortal to surpass Fate’s expectations,” Lucifer said, not exactly helping with this, although his compliment was appreciated all the same.

“Turns out, I was the first-born vampire,” I said, making my mum start shaking her head in disbelief, muttering under her breath how it wasn’t possible.

“No, you were born mortal, Amelia, no one felt anything…”

I cut my father off, giving him a soft smile and told him, “It was Lucius that brought it out in me.” My father’s eyes went wide at this new knowledge, whereas my mother’s mouth dropped open a little.

“Then why didn't we feel it? Why did we never know?” This was a good question and unfortunately, one I would have to answer in place of Lucius, as my father deserved a reply to his question.

“Go on, little Vampire, tell them… this is, after all, the best bit,” Lucifer said as if he knew and had always known. But then he was married to an Oracle, and clearly not one who had lost all her powers as we had been led to believe. Not even after the prophecy had been fulfilled with my mother as was what had always been predicted to happen. Or maybe this was always Lucifer’s intent, to steer others away from the potential of stealing her from him. A power he wanted to keep hidden so as to keep her safe.
