“Okay, my daughter, you made your point, to us both, and also…to your new husband who is right behind you and has been this whole time,”he whispered this last part, making me freeze before my dad let me go. As for my mum, well she was smirking back at me as if enjoying the whole show. I then felt Lucius come to stand behind me and place his hands at my shoulders.
“Keira, Dom, please excuse us, for I need to speak with my wife…now.”Then I was suddenly up in his arms, making me cry out,
“Lucius!”
However, this had no effect, as he only continued to walk me into his apartment, leaving me with only enough time to shout,
“Erh, okay, so we will finish this later, but just so you know we will have another big wedding and, Mum, if you can help me plan it, that would be great!” Then just before the doors closed, I heard my mum shout,
“YES! Oh, thank God!”
Seconds after this, I was back on my feet and being pushed up against a wall so Lucius could kiss me like he needed my lips as much as he needed his next breath! Needless to say, we didn’t arrive back at the party until thirty minutes later, and that was classed as a quickie for Lucius. Which meant that by the time we were walking back inside, he had my hand in his and was free to tease me about what he had overheard… now that the lust part of hearing all this was out of his system.
“So, obsessed, you say.” I rolled my eyes and said,
“Yeah, but really, what sixteen-year-old girl doesn’t go through the Vampire crush stage and besides, I also had a crush on the Green Giant from the sweetcorn can, but I doubt he wanted to marry me, so I had to pick one and lucky you, you weren’t fictional.” I then patted him on the arm, making him frown down at me.
“You know I have no idea what most of what you just said means.”
“I know, great isn’t it… but hey, if you wanna paint yourself green and wear a leaf dress this Halloween, then just saying, you’re gonna get lucky.” I winked at him and again he looked even more confused, which had me walking through the doors of Transfusion VIP laughing like a loon. Of course, that was until a body of colour came barrelling into me and squealed,
“YEEEEY! WE GET TO PLAN YOUR WEDDING!” I winced as this was screamed in my ear and suddenly, I was being dragged from Lucius by not only Pip, but also my mum and my aunty Sophia. In fact, I looked over their heads to Lucius and mouthed,
‘Help me’ and thanks to the karma fairy wanting to bite me in the ass, Lucius simply raised his hand to his ear and pretended not to know what I was saying. I glared at him, and he mouthed back,
‘Where’s your Green Giant now?’ Then he pretended to look around and shrugged his shoulders as if my green saviour was nowhere to be seen. My look said it all, which was why he walked toward my father and Adam, chuckling before taking his usual favourite beer. Then he tapped the neck to my father’s and to the rest of his council who had joined his man party as they all congratulated him.
As for me, well that was a different story.
“Okay, so I know it’s out there even for me, but what about a huge inflatable alter?! Then once they say the I do’s, then we all just jump on it and go crazy!” Pip said, making me, Mother, and Sophia groan. Of course, she also was dressed like some warrior Geisha that had been dipped into a rainbow.
“No inflatable… well, any things,” my mum said, and because she noticed me taking in Pip’s latest mad outfit, she leaned into me and said,
“She’s going through a Manga phase.”Pip started nodding and twirling her short skirt around like a little girl was happily playing dress up in front of the mirror.
“Now I was thinking roses, or lilies… or some lavish, rooftop garden, saying your vows when the sun is setting,” Sophia piped up to say, and I opened my mouth to speak when my mum got in there first,
“Yeah, but what if it rains… no, I really think it needs to be inside, oh I know, but what about Witley Court? I know that’s where your father and I got married, but it really was so beautiful and then…” I cut her off by reminding all three of them,
“Okay, well we haven’t even planned a date yet so…”
“Oh, make it summer,” my mum shouted, clapping her hands in excitement and making her beautiful purple A line strappy dress swish around her knees.
“Oooh, what about a fall wedding? The flowers would be beautiful, all those oranges and reds…” Sophia said, now running her hands down her stunning floor length black gown that was silk and decorated with a cascade of tulle red roses down one side.
“She’s going through a flower phase,”my mum muttered to me, making me reply silently with a strained smile.
“No, winter for sure! Snow, loads of snow, like even the fake stuff would work, we can get a machine in! Oh and we can hand out candy canes and…” At this I raised my hands and tried to contain them.
“Guys, it’s not even…”
“Oh, come on, with how pale Lucius is… what do you want Amelia to look like, that she is marrying the invisible man in the photographs?!” My aunt cried and of course, as for me, my voice trailed off as it was clear they didn’t need me in this. Not as the three of them were now arguing the weather and seasons of the year like each was a spokesperson for sunny days, falling leaves or snowball fights. Naturally, I extracted myself from this conversation and made my way over to the bar. One that I certainly couldn’t remember being there before the remodel. In fact, hadn’t this been where the naked ladies used to dance behind the creepy white screens? That’s when I took a longer look at the place to see that now, it had definitely lost a lot of its ‘sex club’ vibe, making me wonder if this had been more Sophia’s choice or Lucius’s?
Well, considering Sophia pretty much had her own sex club in her wing of Afterlife, then I was leaning more toward it being Lucius’s decision, and I had to wonder if that was because he was now with me. I made a mental note to ask him about this later on but for now, well there was something I needed much more than answers.
