I clear my throat and nod. “Of course, sweetie. Going up on Saturday is fine.”

The conversation shifts again, and my mother and Catherine want to plan a spa day the weekend before the wedding, but it sounds like it’s more for them than for me. I wonder if I can get Flora to go. She loves a good massage but hates my mother. I’m sure I can sweeten the pot for her, so I don’t have to go it alone.

I feel eyes on me again, but when I look at the table where that beautiful man was sitting, it’s empty. Brendan reaches over and squeezes my thigh as he updates everyone on his latest acquisition at work. I place my hand on his and squeeze back. I’ve been distracted lately, but it’s time to focus on the future.

BrendanPrincebetterbeenjoying his last hours with her. I watch as he guides Rory into the country club with a hand on her back. Her ass looks phenomenal in that little blue dress she has on. I can’t wait to rip it off her later. Technically, I’m just supposed to watch and wait from outside, but when have I ever done what I’m supposed to do?

I don’t exactly fit in here, but with Gray’s connections and computer skills, no one bats an eye when I drop the fake name he gave me and immediately get seated in the restaurant near our girl. My eyes never leave her, even though I’m tempted to sneer at her piece of shit father, Henry. I know if I do that, I’ll end up making a scene, and this whole thing needs to go a little more smoothly than that.

Without looking at the waiter, I order a cup of coffee. Rory’s face flushes after I catch her sneaking a glance at me, and I smirk. I’m going to make her entire body flush red later. My dick aches as my thoughts run wild with everything I, or I should say we, plan to do to her. The satisfaction will be made even greater at the destruction we’ll leave in our wake.

My attention shifts back to Rory. I despise her on principle, but that doesn’t mean I can’t see the way her eyes dim when she’s forced to engage in the mundane bullshit these people constantly talk about. This might be the first time she’s noticed me, but I’ve been watching her for a long time. We all have. It feels like this day has taken forever to get here, and now that everything is so close to coming together, I can’t quite believe it.

After staring at her for a little longer, I decide it’s time to go. I have to make sure I can get my supplies from the car and be outside when she finally leaves. She drove here with that douchebag, but we already know she’ll be driving home alone. I want to grab her the second she sets foot out of these doors, but in the interest of this not blowing up in our faces immediately, I’m going to tail her wherever she goes and worst case, get her once she goes home to that big empty house.

My phone vibrates in my pocket, and I pull it out to check it before sitting down in my car. It’s Hayes. He’s just as excited as I am. It’ll be faster to call him and chat for a minute instead of texting, so I hit call and put him on speaker phone.

“Is everything okay?” I roll my eyes at his concern.

“Of course it is. She’s still inside eating lunch. My guess is that they’ll take another hour or so, and then I’m on her ass until the time is right.” I crack my neck and relish the pain that comes with it.

“I think I should meet you out there and come with after all.”

“Brother, she’s tiny. Even if I didn’t knock her out, I could handle her with my eyes closed.”

“I know you can handle her. But I’m bored and tired of waiting. At least if I meet up with you, I can be doing something other than sitting here on my ass.”

“Fine, but hurry up. Get Wade or Gray to drop you off at the club. I’m parked in one of the middle rows facing the entrance. If you’re not here before she leaves, you’re shit out of luck.”

“Yeah, yeah. I’ll be there in twenty.”

I laugh at my twin. I knew he was going to do this. Before I left, I asked him repeatedly if he wanted to come with me, but he swore up and down that he had enough to do. It’ll be more fun to fuck with her when she realizes there are two of us though.

The time passes quickly, and Hayes slides into the passenger seat less than twenty minutes later. He offers me a nod but directs all of his attention to the entrance of the club.

“Is everything ready at home?” I look over at him, knowing he won’t take his eyes off the club, so there’s no way we’ll miss seeing her leave.

“Of course it is. Don’t be a fucking idiot. Wade is hilarious though. He keeps counting and recounting all the supplies from the hospital like they’re going to get up and walk away.”

I laugh because I’ve watched him do it several times over the past couple of weeks as this day approached. “He’s stuck his neck out by building that stash up. I’m not surprised.”

“I know. Me neither. How are you feeling?” He looks at me out of the corner of his eye with a grin.

“Dude, I’m fucking ready. I went inside to get a better look at her, and it’s like she’s wrapped herself as a present for us. I can’t wait to finally get a taste.”

It’s as if my words summon her to us. Her and the entire preppy crew of fuckfaces slowly walk out. They stand around for a couple of minutes, saying goodbye or whatever. Henry gives his daughter a long hug and kisses her on the forehead. Brendan tugs her close and gives her a quick peck on the lips before passing her the keys and leaving with her father and his own. The women continue to stand around chatting, but she finally breaks away with kisses and waves.

“I hope those fuckers enjoyed their last taste of her.” Hayes rubs his hands together like we’re about to snatch her from the parking lot.

“They’ll regret it all, I’m sure.” I start the car and wait for Rory to pull out of her space at the front.

We drive around for a while, listening to the radio, less than patiently waiting for Rory while she picks up some groceries. Once she has everything loaded into the trunk, she’s on the move again. Fortunately, it becomes clear that she’s finally heading toward home, and Hayes and I both release a sigh of relief.

“Are you ready? Let’s do this fast. She’ll be distracted with her groceries, so I’ll sneak up behind her, dose her, and get out of here.” I look over at Hayes to make sure we’re on the same page.

“Sounds good. I’ll be the lookout guy.” He’s tapping his foot, and if I didn’t know better, I’d say it was nerves, but he’s happy.
