I don’t have anything better to do, so I follow him in. It’s funny watching Wade play doctor like this. His stethoscope is around his neck, but he’s got a V-neck T-shirt on and black sweatpants, making him look like a college kid playing pretend. Although, I look down at my gray sweats and no shirt outfit, so I can’t really talk shit. He listens to her heart, checks her pulse and oxygen, then her temperature, writing everything down in his notebook.

“What’s the prognosis, Doc? Will she live?”

“I don’t know how anyone could ever get tired of your stupid jokes. I’m always telling people, no, no, Hayes really is funny, you’ll see.” I roll my eyes at him but laugh. “And yes, smartass, she’s fine. She’s honestly just sleeping deeply. I’m going to give her a really light dose of Ketamine and wake her up. We can get some food in her system, and she’ll be more pliant. She might not actually even remember any of what we tell her, but it’s not like it matters yet.” Wade shrugs and writes down more notes.

“Hey, I’m all for the easy way. Having her scared is fun, but I want to be able to play with her too.”

“We’re all going to get turns. I don’t know why everyone is acting like they have to fight for time.” Wade sighs and looks over at Rory.

“We know we’ll get time, but it’s exciting. Plus, look at her. She’s fucking sexy as hell, and she’s all ours. It does things, you know?”

“Yeah, I’m not immune to her. I just don’t know how I’m going to stop looking at her as a

patient. I don’t fuck patients.”

“Have a little faith, Doc. I’m sure we can help you out in that area. Dose her, and let’s see what happens.” I gesture at Rory with an innocent smile that Wade isn’t fooled by for a second.

“I’m going to unhook her IV first and get the syringe ready. Give me a minute.”

I watch as he removes the IV tubing but leaves the cannula in her wrist in case we have to hook her up again. Next, he fills the syringe, cleans her arm with an alcohol wipe, and injects it. Wade double checks to make sure everything is out of reach for Rory before looking at me with a nod.

I rub my hands together like a kid about to get his favorite treat and crawl up the bed. I lie on my side with my arm propping my head up and gently shake Rory. She groans but doesn’t move, so I lean my head down and kiss her neck before I whisper in her ear.

“Come on, baby. Be a good girl and wake up, so we can play.”

With her eyes still closed, Rory lets out a little whimper and stretches. As if everything suddenly comes back to her in an instant, her eyes fly open, and she flinches away from me.

“This isn’t real. Who are you? What do you want?” Her chest is rising and falling quickly, but she isn’t hyperventilating like before. It’s progress.

Wade has been texting on his phone, so I can only assume Adler and Gray are on their way. My suspicions are confirmed when they walk in with applesauce, broth, crackers, and water.

“First of all, Princess, you’re right. This is just one big crazy dream. And if you behave, when you wake up, all will be well. You’ll be back in your boring life, with your cookie-cutter fiancé, hating every minute of every day. Sound good?”

“My life isn’t boring. Fuck you.” My dick gets hard at her little display.

“Oh, baby, we’re getting there. You need to eat something. You’ve been through a lot in the past twenty-four hours, and you’re going to need the energy.”

“Twenty-four hours? That’s impossible. People will be looking for me. Whoever you are, whatever reason you’re doing this for, I promise it isn’t worth it. When they find me, you’re all going to prison.” She’s projecting calm strength as she tries to reason with us, and it’s so adorable.

“You’re right about one thing. People are looking for you, but no one is going to find you.

Not until we want them to. And baby, we’re nowhere close to being done with you. I wouldn’t get your hopes up about us getting in trouble for this. The only person going down when this is all over is your father.”

“Why? How do you know my father? What do you want from me?”

“Simply put, your father owes us. We’re going to dismantle his kingdom piece by piece, starting with you, his crown jewel. By the time we’re done with you, dear old daddy isn’t going to even be able to look at you without disgust. The fairytale wedding and life he dreamed up for you will be crushed. He won’t even have his money to comfort him in the end.” The others remain silent, carefully taking in our interaction.

“Please, I don’t understand. Help me. I’ll do whatever you want, just let me go.” A single tear runs down her cheek, and I want to lick it off her.

“You will do whatever we want. Starting with eating some damn food before I shove it down your throat. Got it?” Rory swallows hard before slowly reaching for the applesauce in Adler’s outstretched hand.

“What happens after I eat this?” She stares into the little container and swirls the contents around with the spoon.

“That really depends on you. But you’re for sure not going home, so don’t be redundant.” I cross my arms in front of my chest and stare her down until she finally takes a bite.

It takes her a minute to swallow her food, then she clears her throat and looks back at me with tears in her eyes. “Please, I’m a good person. I haven’t done anything wrong.”

“You were a good person. We’ll see who you are at the end of this.” She gulps, and I laugh.
