This was a very good suggestion. It was the only legal way Aleksey had discovered to genuinely ease pain other than chocolate.

Ben lowered the lights as they entered the bathroom and turned on the ones under the water, which was bubbling as if actually boiling. He undressed Aleksey slowly, smiling a little as he brushed his palms over the impressive, powerful shoulders and arms. He teased his fingertips over the pale torso, a consequence of Aleksey’s long personal winter, then snapped open both their jeans, which slithered to the floor.

Ben sank gracefully to his knees and cupped Aleksey’s firm cheeks, kissing into the warm cotton of his shorts. Aleksey wove his fingers into Ben’s hair and tugged and released the strands to match Ben’s work below. He could have ridden the pleasure for hours, but Ben let him slide off his tongue and stood, holding out his hand. As soon as they were in the water, Ben swivelled around, faced him, straddled him and took him inside, not a dead weight now, not something that would crush and hurt. Aleksey laughed and braced his arms around Ben’s back, supporting him so he could lean away, force the rod inside to exquisite depths of penetration.

Ben grabbed his shoulders, digging his nails in as he lifted and lowered, rubbing Aleksey’s cock and working it against his tightness.

Aleksey squeezed them harder together and Ben’s cock, neglected before, now thickened on the friction of their wet flesh.

Finally, foreheads together, breath shared, Aleksey felt his orgasm rip into Ben, and on the groan of bliss that he emitted, Ben arched his back and cried out, his pulsing heat dissipating in the greater warmth of the water.

They stayed joined, Ben still straddling Aleksey’s lap, now playing with his blond hair, separating strands and making them stick up at odd angles.

‘The moron is afraid he’s going to be made homeless soon. When all my billions are confiscated by Herr Your-Yacht-Is-Now-My-Yacht.’ Ben chuckled at his exaggerated Gestapo accent.

‘He’s got this thing about being homeless after that benefit probably. Pretty depressing when you think about it. I sometimes wonder what I’ve have done if I’d not met you. I’d be almost at the end of my twenty-two years now. No home to go to. Instead I’ve got…all this. Maybe they should use those bloody yachts. Floating hostels or something. What is he doing with them?’

‘Keeping them all for himself, I shouldn’t wonder.’

Ben pumped some shampoo into his hand and began to work it into the design he’d created. Aleksey wanted to point out that hot tubs and shampoo didn’t mix, but was too happy and relaxed to make his usual effort to be annoying. He spoke of money, of unimaginable wealth, but who would not give up a greater fortune even than his to be here at this moment, baking in this heat, with this man sheathing his cock? No—this man just being here with him, his lover, his friend, his…world.

‘It’s theAlekseything—I guess with Squeezy as well. He thinks you’ve actuallygoneRussian rather than just changed your name—which in his weird brain will make you a target. He doesn’t get that—’

‘—my,our, money isNazimoney, not Russian, and thus entirely safe?’ Ben almost smiled at this joke, so he added, ‘I’m thinking of diversifying anyway. I will discuss it with my financial advisor.’

‘I didn’t know you had one of those.’

‘That’s worrying. It’s you.’

Ben did laugh at that. ‘So, what am I going to advise you to diversify into, sir?’

‘I was thinking pharmaceuticals and property. Oh, and presents for you, as it is nearly your birthday.’

Ben pursed his lips as he cupped handfuls of water up to rinse. ‘I might stop celebrating them. Thirty-fucking-eight. I can’t believe it.’

‘You told me fifty was the new thirty, so that makes you…huh, I cannot do the math. Perhaps you can?’

Ben snapped his gaze up to Aleksey’s, then blew out his lips. ‘Did you know sharks can smell blood in the water from two miles away, and once they’ve targeted it, they hone in on that scent without deviation until they have what they want?’

Aleksey blinked. ‘Have I just dozed off and woken to an entirely different conversation?’

‘No. That’s you. What you do. You saw what I was looking at on the computer and ever since you’ve been coming at it.’ He demonstrated this with his hand in the water, shark-like, and predictably humming the theme fromJaws.

‘I have no idea what you are babbling about, Benjamin. I literally understood more of the moron’s utterly bewildering crap about cricket this afternoon than—’

‘Go on. Just ask me.’

‘Well, all right. Seeing as you seem so fixated on this. Why were you doing odd equations tonight? I am genuinely intrigued.’

Ben made rueful faces for a while, appearing to be debating what to say, then finally just muttered, ‘You’re going to laugh at me and keep at it till I think I’m dumb too. And I suppose you’re right. It is dumb. Forget it.’

‘Jesus. I’m actually authentically interested now. What?’

Ben took a deep breath. ‘I want to get my pilot’s licence. There. That’s what I was doing. Looking at some of the stuff I’d have to cover for it. The maths. I wasn’t very good at…well. You know. School. Go on. Do yourAlekseything then.’

‘For once, Aleksey was completely floored. He studied Ben, frowning deeply.

‘Well?’
