“There’s no going back, Britney.”

“But I need to!” I search around frantically. “It’s too dangerous out here.”

“You’re going to be fine. I’ll protect you.”

I don’t feel protected.

With no other choice, I let Caspian lead me, terrified that at any moment, we’ll run straight into a mob of ragers.

“Relax, you’re safe with me,” Caspian says, slowing to match my pace.

“Why would you ever want to live out here? Don’t you want your girlfriend safe?”

“As I said, she’s wild.”

“So was Georgia.”

“Just follow me so we can get this over with.”

He leads me down an alley, through a door at the back. The building is rundown, with cockroaches littering the halls.

We climb five flights of stairs and exit into a dilapidated hallway. I cover my nose, gagging from the stench.

“Hurry,” Caspian snaps, grabbing me by the arm and yanking me down the hall.

“Hey! What the hell are you doing?” I try to wrangle my arm free, but his grip tightens.

“You wanna get to your boyfriend, don’t you?”

All at once I realize that I’m in very real danger.

“You’re not taking me to Alistair, are you?” I say as he drags me further into the building.

He snorts out a laugh. “Why would you think that?”

Chances are, he just wants to fuck me, which is devastating because I’d wanted Alistair to be my first.

But I had to fuck that up.

He stops in front of a door and gives a sharp knock. “Open up, Fred!”

A moment later, it opens and I’m pushed into a room where several men armed with baseball bats stand in a half circle. Another push sends me to the floor.

Tall, broad, and angry, each of them stare at me like I’m a piece of meat.

“Is this acceptable?” Caspian says.

One of the men squats, grabbing me by the chin and forcing me to look at him.

“Get your hands off me!” I yell, trying to scurry away.

He chuckles. “She’s cute. After I take her for a test drive, I’ll—”

POP!

My mouth gapes open as the man falls to the floor.

Oh, my God—this can’t be happening!
