“Just say you’re free next weekend.”

I laughed. “I’m pretty sure I can find someone to fill in for me at the shop.”

“Good.” He kissed me long and slow and already my bloodstream was heating up.

Our deadly Christmas Eve flashed through my head as I slid the tickets back into the envelope. “When did you have time to buy tickets?”

“I ordered them on my phone while you were changing after A Christmas Carol.” He brushed his lips to my forehead and searched my eyes. “This is the best Christmas I’ve ever had.”

“Me too.” I traced my finger along the stubble on his jawline, memorizing every line on his handsome face. We still needed to find Ashleigh, and the connection between the hired killer and the Hinterland and Bloodstone law firm, but right now not of that mattered.

Right now, while the snow fell outside, we were all that existed.

“I love you,” I whispered.

He kissed me once more and rested his forehead on mine. “I love you too.”

I wanted to pinch myself to be sure I wasn’t dreaming. We were going to New York together, to Broadway. I set the envelope on the table, snuggled into his chest, and watched the lights on the tree twinkle. My heart was overflowing.

Although the tickets were amazing, Jackson’s love was the only gift I needed.

He kissed my hair and whispered, “Merry Christmas, Winter.”

The merriest ever.
