He takes a deep breath and closes his eyes. With some more control over his body, he finally releases the breath from his lungs, shuddering. They’re still full of tears; sadness.

I grab the back of his neck to bring him closer and look him in the eye. His eyes are full of emotion. We don’t have the time, but I know I need to make the time. He has to get himself together. I want him with me. I want his help. Without him, none of them will trust me and without him, I can’t get Aria out…

I wonder, though…

Is some of this fear?

This is the big leagues.

Is he actually going to be ready for it?

He tries to shake me off for a second but holds on.

"Alessandro, listen to me. Are you listening to me?" I ask loudly.

“I’m not going to let her get away with this…”

He looks straight into my eyes. “You won’t be able to do it…”

“Do what?”

“Kill her….”

Just the notion seems ridiculous. How does he figure?

I can kill anyone.

I mean, except Aria, I guess.

“I can if it comes down to it…”

He shakes his head. “Trust me..” He whispers faintly. “She’s your mother.. you won’t be able to…”

“Then I guess you better have my back…” I laugh, hoping to reassure him just before patting his back. We took off toward the stairs again.

It’s now or never.

"Tony?" Alessandro says quietly.

I don't stop walking.

“Yes?"

“I hate you…”

I smirk and flash it over my shoulder.

“We’re going to have a war on our hands, Gentlemen…” He tells them all in a loud, booming voice that demands respect. “There’s no sneaking. This is a full blown tactical attack.”

I know for a fact she’s going to be loaded to the brim.

I know for a fact she’s going to be waiting.

She’ll want to take me alive.

She’ll want to slaughter the others.

This is personal.
