And because it’s personal, I might have a chance that she’ll slip up.

There’s just the matter of Madam Rosa’s demise…

I just want to find a way to spare her life. I just want to find a way to bring her back to the surface; bring her back to being her, the person..

Rosalie Giordio.

That's who I want her to be.

There’s two van-fulls of us.

I'm not sure it's enough in number, but it's enough in gumption and ability. These are Aria’s best men.

And they’re all risking the family’s security by risking themselves. But they all know that risk and they’re all still willing.

“We take them from the front and from the back…” Alessandro reminds everyone in the van with a stern, steady voice. One of the van’s went to the other access point. And as soon as we get the signal, we’re all rushing in.

“We charge them.. no stealth,” he continues.

I grip my assault rifle and nod.

It’s going to be full-blown warfare, and as calm as I am on the exterior, I’m anything but…

With a screeching halt, the van skids over the blacktop just down the road from the fish market’s large gravel drive. It’s now or never…

With Alessandro’s phone’s ring, I know it’s time.

That’s the signal.

The driver of the van accelerates with fury as the back of the van fishtails to gain speed. Tires squeal. The men around me hold their weapons tightly, and roar out a scream of anticipation.

I look at Alessandro, and his eyes are shut. His mouth closed.

He’s completely silent.

I don’t think he’s ever done anything like this. I don’t think he’s ever hurt anyone.

As the van spins over gravel, and comes to an abrupt stop just outside the doors, Luigi looks at me and nods. “Ready!?”

“I’m ready…” I growl.

With grueling power, Luigi launches the van door open and everyone scurries out, guns drawn.

Pops of gunfire pelt the van as soon we exit. They’re on the roof. They’re in the doorway. I aim toward the men shooting through the large bay door, forcing one to the ground and the other to take cover.

“Luigi, cover the top!” I yell as he blasts bullets upward as we all run into the building.

The ones on ground level are nowhere to be seen.

Not yet, anyway…

We scramble down the large hallway, weapons in hand.

There’s rooms on each side of us, some open, some not. All of them have large metal doors, reminiscent of a restaurant deep-freeze. The ones that are closed are either barricaded with pallets or chained up. If she’s in one of those, it’ll be a while before we’re able to get to her…

More bullets fly at us from open corridors that lead to the hall, or behind draped plastic curtains that are haphazardly scattered down the hall. We definitely don’t have a home-field advantage. We’re basically blind in here.

I can see up ahead. It’s a dead end. Just another barricaded door. So I turn into one of the open corridors, covered almost completely in plastic. Slapping plastic away from my face with the tip of my gun, I’m met face-to-face with one of Madam Rosa’s top men.
