“Jump aboard,” Roman said, helping to pull the boat alongside ours. Bennett smiled at me softly before he turned back to Roman. “So, what do you have for us?”

“I brought some food and drink,” he said, pulling a bag off his back. “It’s not a lot but it’ll keep you satisfied for a few days before I can get more.”

“Thank you,” I said, taking the bag from him and moving to put it away downstairs. Bennett waited for me to be gone before he spoke again. I could still hear him but I could tell he didn’t want me to be with them up there.

“What is it?” Roman asked him.

“Amir is on the warpath and your father has disowned you, publicly stating the fact. Your mother has left Verona but she tells me she is safe and with her family. The Caldwell’s are furious and pleading with everyone for the return of Jolie, saying you kidnapped her and putting an even bigger target on your back. Amir has put a warrant out for you and the second you join us back on land, you’ll be put to trial for Paul’s death.”

All of that was a lot to hear. I wondered what Roman was thinking. I couldn’t see his face from where I stood.

“I figured as much,” Roman said. “I didn’t expect my father to disown me though. It doesn’t matter. My plans never included him in the equation anyway.”

“Truth,” Bennett said. “What are you doing for comms?”

“I have a bunch of burners.”

He moved to the bag, and I could hear him ruffling around. “This is the number. Call me on this.”

“Got it,” he said. “And Jolie?”

My ears perked up at the sound of my name.

“What about her?” Roman asked.

“She’s not safe here, Romy. Take her somewhere while this all blows over, then go and get her.”

“No,” Roman said. “No one will protect her more than I can.”

I felt my heart flutter at that. I knew I was safe with him, it wasn’t something I could explain if anyone were to ever ask me, it was a feeling. The way he looked into my eyes, the way he risked everything for me.

He was my forever, and til death, I would follow after him.

Always.

I headed back up to the deck as Bennett was taking off. Roman turned to me. “You don’t need to disappear. You’re in this with me, we’re equals.”

“I didn’t think he wanted me up here.”

“Who cares what he wants?” Roman asked simply. I smiled over at him as he kissed my forehead before he headed down to grab himself a drink. I looked out over the edge of Verona Bay and hated that we were both banished now but I was thankful for being with Roman.

“We need to find a way to destroy both our father’s and take back Verona.”

Roman came up from below deck with a smile on his face. “My thoughts exactly but it may be a while yet. Amir has his panties in a twist so it will be a few weeks we have to stay out here. Is that okay with you?”

“Well, we can spend a week below deck or we can strategize how we destroy the men who tried to destroy us.”

“Why can’t we do both?” he asked me with a smirk on his face. That same smirk that caused me to become weak in the knees on several occasions.

I tried not to smile back but it was useless. Roman had me heart and soul, and he would be the man I would give my life for.

I knew it.

Roman

A week later

Jolie turned over in the bed, her eyes barely open as I got dressed. Her stunning breasts were on full display, making me want to come back to bed and play with her until she was screaming out my name.
