“I don’t want you to think this is more than what it is,” I explained.

“This is a scene between a Domme and a submissive, pre-negotiated. Am I missing something?”

“Well, no, but—”

“I’m all ears as to why you think it’s a bad idea.” I couldn’t find a single reason to disagree with his desire for a scene, though I tried. If I were being honest with myself, which I was not currently being, I wanted another scene just as badly as he seemed to, if not more.

“What kind of scene were you hoping for?”

“So, is that a yes?” I could see the hope in his eyes.

“Well, it’s not a no.” I shrugged slightly, not wanting to come off too eager, so I feigned something more noncommittal.

“I’ll take it. As for what kind of scene, I’m open to several ideas.” He had me feeling unsteady; off my game.

“Thatcher, I think we need to discuss a few things before we get into all of that.” As much as I wanted to dive into thoughts of another scene with this man, Jamie’s words came back to me, reminding me that there were things to address that had to happen before we could move forward.Ifwe moved forward.

“I’m listening.”

“I need you to understand that while I’m at Haven, I’m Lady Luxe,” I explained.

“Oh, I’m fully aware,” he teased.

“Let me finish.”

“Yes, Mistress,” he said with a smirk. I knew he was teasing, but I needed to nip this here and now.

“That’s exactly what I’m talking about. While I’m at Haven, I’m Lady Luxe, Mistress, Ma’am. Whatever titles apply. But when I am here in Apple Grove, at my home, that is not how things are. I am Sadie. Just Sadie.” I urged him to understand.

“Have I offended you?”

“You made me uncomfortable.”

“Please explain. I want to make sure I understand.” He spoke slowly, almost calculated, and I could see the regret in his eyes.

“When you teased me, when you called me Lady Luxe, even now when you called me Mistress, that is not appropriate or acceptable behavior here. And I do not wish it to happen again.” My words were resolute, firm, and unyielding. I feared they also came off a bit cold, but I couldn’t trouble myself with that right now. I needed to put a measure of distance between us.

“I apologize profusely. I did not mean to offend. Though I do not remember that being discussed during our negotiations.”

“You’re right, and that was my miscalculation and miscommunication. This has never happened before.”

“What do you mean?”

“I have never played with anyone from Apple Grove,” I admitted.

“Really?” The surprise was evident in his voice.

“Really. It’s unfamiliar territory for me, and I did not think to add these things to my list of boundaries.” The words were hard to articulate. Even as I said them, it felt cold and standoffish, which wasn’t how I felt.

“Well, regardless of whether or not I knew them, I apologize profusely.”

“Thank you for hearing me,” I said with utter sincerity.

“I promise you they will not be an issue in the future, and I would like to atone for my actions.” His words surprised me, but I quickly waved him off with a hand.

“That’s not necessary.”

“But it is for me.” I thought over his words slowly, letting them sink in before answering.
