“Panties,” he said helpfully.

“I forgot. I just plain forgot.”

“I have ways of helping you improve your memory.” He had the nerve to chuckle when he said that. “What about that bad cell reception when you were in the car on Monday? That had to be the worst fake drop out I’ve ever heard. And I’ve heard a few.”

I closed my eyes and tried not to think how sore my ass was going to be before I left that room.

“Next?” he said helpfully.

I shook my head.

“Hint: red-haired blogger.”

“God. Ronnie.”

“Who else? Didn’t I tell you to keep away from her?”

“You did.”

“And you had to disobey me?”

“I didn’t mean to, honest.”

“You accidentally invited her to the party at your Mom’s house last night?”

How did he know about that already? I had plans to break it to him gently later. “I didn’t invite her. Mom did. I wasn’t even there when the party was planned. I was with D2.”

“My mistake but maybe if you’d hadn’t told Ronnie where your mother was, she wouldn’t have been able to worm her way into your family.”

I sighed, regretting once again that I’d let that information slip. I had no defense because I was the one who’d told Ronnie and I couldn’t deny it. “I know, all I did was have polite conversation with her and the next thing I knew, I’d let the name of the hospital slip.”

“There’s a lesson for you. Your idea of polite conversation is Ronnie’s idea of data mining. You’re a smart woman, too smart to let someone like Ronnie outfox you. The picture of you and Cynthia in all her social media feeds was unfortunate. Now that the world has seen your face and knows you’re my fiancée, you’re going to have to be more discreet with family details. I love you. I don’t want to lose you because someone comes after you with a get rich quick kidnapping scheme.” He crossed his arms over his chest and drummed his fingers on his elbows. After a long moment, he said, “We’re done talking now. I’ll sit on the bed today.”

Sitting on the bed signaled a long session and I was at the point where I felt I deserved it. Surely, I could have managed the situation better. But I wasn’t going to give in without protesting. “I haven’t explained about Ronnie yet.”

“Has explaining anything ever stopped me from spanking you?”

“No,” I said, not even bothering to keep the bitterness out of my voice.

“I don’t like that tone,” he said. “Get the hairbrush and stand by the bed and wait for me. I’m going to make myself more comfortable.”

I picked up the hairbrush with a sense of dread. Simon knew what he was doing. Since the moment I’d slipped off my panties, being naked under my dress had truly sharpened my sensitivity to anything remotely discipline related. I took another stab at defending myself. “Don’t you get it? I didn’twantto spend time with Ronnie. She just barged into my life.”

He had started to take off his tie but stopped and walked to where I stood by the bed. Lifting my chin so I had to meet his eyes, he said, “That fact is irrelevant. When I told you not to see her, you threw my words back at me, told me to expect to be disappointed. I was disappointed. Did you get what you wanted?” He was speaking almost in a whisper. “Try not to add to your punishment now.”

He hung his suit jacket over the trouser press and draped his tie over the top of it. Unbuttoning his shirt, he studied me as I stood there naked, one hand covering my breasts, the other holding the hairbrush over my mound to cover it.

“Drop your hands,” he said, low and calm. He rolled up his sleeves and sat down on the end of the bed. “Present the hairbrush.”

I walked over and held it out to him, laid across my upturned palms. He took it and held the back of it up to my mouth. Without hesitation, I kissed it. Then I clenched every muscle in my body and lay across his lap.

“You’ve been a very naughty girl, haven’t you?” he asked, as if he would accept any answer but one.

I was beyond caring so I chose the reply that satisfied my bad mood. “If you say so.”

“Damnit, Sadie, do you have to challenge me like that?” He started spanking, only with his hand, but didn’t hold back. Full strength smacks started on my butt cheeks and quickly covered all the sit spot and the top of my thighs. The blood whooshed in my ears and my ability to think about anything but surviving the next smack was suspended. I wriggled and squirmed as best I could, but I was pinned in place. I wasn’t going to beg or grovel, or so I told myself. My safe word hung at the edge of my consciousness but I suppressed it as I let out small gasps of pain at each smack.

“That’s a nice sound,” he said approvingly at each utterance.
