“I will,mi amor, but what I won’t do is let him give us shit for you wanting to rest tonight. He’s anxious to get answers, as we all are, but twelve hours isn’t going to kill us. We’ll find out who was behind this soon enough.” I squeeze the side of her hip, and she nods.

“He’s right, you know. Go on and head back to the hotel. I’ll text you in the morning, and we can discuss when we’ll head to the location to get the answers we seek,” Ruslan offers, and Eset nods.

“All right. Thank you, Ruslan.” Eset takes two steps and leans down to wrap her arms around her brother. He holds her tightly for a few moments before he releases her.

We all say our goodbyes, and then I walk with Eset out toward the steps, where we have a town car waiting for us. I open the door for Eset and help her get inside, ensuring her dress isn’t damaged in the slightest. I’m amazed at how beautiful she looks in it, and I hope this is something she’ll keep for years to come. Once she’s inside the car, I scoot in beside her and shut the door. “The Dorchester, please,” I tell the driver, and he takes off.

Eset sighs heavily as she leans back against the seat. “Goodness, I never expected our wedding to go like that.”

I laugh. “I suppose it could’ve been worse.”

“Don’t say that.” Eset joins in on the laughter, and she smacks my leg.

Over the course of the day, we’ve become more physically affectionate with each other. I’m enjoying every bit of it, and I’m wondering what the possibilities are of the night leading to something else. I had my first taste of her lips and have found myself craving them since then. Fuck, she’s a beautiful woman, and I want to be wrapped up deep inside her, hearing her cry my name as she reaches her orgasm.

My dick gets hard at the mere thought of it, and Eset’s eyes are locked on mine again.

For the ride, we’re mostly silent, but there’s an intense connection between the two of us. The more I think about it, the more I believe we could be crossing another line tonight. A line I will jump at the opportunity to cross.

The car pulls up to the Dorchester, and I open my door, getting out first. I hold a hand out for Eset, which she takes, and I help her get out of the vehicle before I shut the door. The two of us, hand-in-hand, walk into the hotel and head for the elevator. I tap on the button to head upstairs, and once the doors open and we’re safely inside, I ask the million-dollar question. “Are we going to yours or mine?”

“Mine,” Eset answers almost instantaneously, and this is the first real indication I have that the night is about to take a very serious turn.

She presses the button for the floor her penthouse suite is on, and the elevator doors open when we arrive. Goran is posted outside her room and cocks a brow when he sees me. Fuck, the more I’m around this guy, the more I don’t like him. I’m fucking convinced that he’s secretly in love with my wife.

“I’ve already checked out the suite, Miss Eset. Everything is clear.”

“Good. Thank you, Goran,” Eset tells him as we approach the door, but I have to add something here.

“Goran, I think it’s time you call Eset Mrs. Ramirez since she’s a married woman now.” I look right at him, and Eset looks up at me for a brief moment.

Goran looks at my wife, almost like he’s asking for her confirmation. “I am a Ramirez now, Goran. Do as my husband says.”

Mmm, yes, I think there’s a definite possibility we’re getting physical tonight. The more Eset speaks, the more she turns me on.

Chapter Sixteen

Eset

If I’m being honest, the way Santos shoved me to the ground earlier tonight and told me to stay down made me view him in a different light. In my eyes, it’s like he was more worried about my life than his own, and that’s all a woman can ever hope for in a husband. I don’t think I knew until that moment that Santos actually gave a damn about me. I mean, I know he had some sort of connection with me since we first met, but I purely thought it was only about our marriage arrangement. Sure, he’s kind to me, and he makes me laugh on occasion, but I only viewed it as surface level until today.

It’s a bit ironic that since we’re married, I’m developing feelings for the man. I felt affection toward him and viewed him in a good light, but I don’t think I really have been invested until now. I’m more willing now to see how our life can authentically go than I was before, but maybe it’s because I’ve never really been in a relationship. Santos is my first real one, even though it might not seem like it from the outside. I’m always so put together, so methodical. I weigh every option, and I’m the kind of woman who takes charge. Does it really seem to the outside world that I’m the type of woman who’s never been kissed before Santos, has never been in a relationship, or has never even had sex? I know it seems crazy.

Now we’re walking into my penthouse suite side by side, and I don’t know what other doors are going to be opened tonight. I see the desire in Santos’ eyes, and I wonder if he knows I’m just as interested as he is in exploring what we can be together… but there’s something he needs to know before I pull the trigger. I have to tell him I’m a virgin, and while it’s going to be uncomfortable, it needs to be done. There’s no other way around it.

“Care for a drink?” I question him, knowing there are at least a couple more bottles of champagne in the fridge.

“Actually, yes,” Santos confirms.

I head over to the refrigerator and pull out one of the bottles of champagne. Within a few moments, the cork pops out, and I grab two champagne flutes, pouring the bubbly liquid into each of them. I hand Santos a glass while I take one for myself.

“To our future, may it be as blossoming as every day between us,” Santos states, and I find myself smiling at his words. We clink our glasses together and take our respective sips.

“Are you doing okay after what happened tonight?” Santos questions, and I take in a deep breath.

“I’m rattled, naturally, but I’m okay. As a woman who sees every sort of thing that can be thrown my way, I was shocked an assassination attempt took place at my wedding.”

“Me too. I thought our security was on par, but it looks like there could’ve been room for improvement.”
