She pushed up and kissed me. “Well…maybe we can be a little late.”

Chapter Forty-Seven

Lizzie

Ifannedmyflushedface as I approached the party house, holding Damon’s hand.

He walked tall, holding my elbow, but Mr. Magic was tucked into his back pocket—just in case. He didn’t look the least bit fazed that we’d totally just messed around. I, on the other hand, was totally and completely flushed. He absolutely did something crazy to my body.

I’d almost yelled out for him to get a condom quick but resisted. My first time wouldn’t be a quick one right before a party.

I was still working on the idea of when my first time would be. I loved Damon. I knew that. I’d known for a while now, but still. Sex was a big deal.

“Okay?” he asked.

“Yeah. Good.”

“Need a Blow Pop?” He patted my butt.

I let out a nervous laugh and reached for the handle on the screen door. Music spilled out, and people were bopping around like jumping beans. I didn’t recognize one person.

“Step,” I said.

Leaning on me, he made his way up the single step into the entryway. It was a huge space that was probably the living room, but all the furniture was pushed to the walls.

And they were filled with people making out, sitting and talking.

“Let me guess. Body jumping to the right. More like twitching around barely hitting the beat.”

“Nailed it.” We moved in farther. “Kitchen up ahead twenty feet or so—”

“Kegger with a circle of guys holding the nozzle, filling blue plastic cups.”

“Red, actually. But yeah. How’d—”

“Been to my fair share of parties.”

“I bet. To our left is a sitting room.” It was small, only a few chairs, but it seemed quieter. Might be a good place to start.

“Mmm. Let me guess. People doing a little of what we were doing on my couch.”

“Damon.”Omigosh.I slapped his chest, and he snatched my hand. “Can’t believe you just said that.”

“What?” He kissed my knuckles. “Up for some more?”

My already flushed face heated that much more.

“Nice glasses, dude,” someone said as they passed by.

“Oh, I forgot,” I said as I reached for them.

“Leave ’em on,” Damon said. “Lesser of two evils, trust me.”

“What?”

“Unfocused eyes are a dead giveaway. Mysterious this way.” He gestured to his face.

“Okay,” I said, “Beer?”
