Maybe it was good that he did. I had school to concentrate on. Maybe the whole idea of trying to get her back was a mistake. Three weeks I waited, had Drey watching, Bill putting his ear to the ground, and Hunter on alert to see if Walker really did spread the word.

He had. It spread like wildfire, too. But still. I didn’t trust it. Until Lizzie helped me today. Damn headache, but it made me realize, with the first touch of her hand on me, asking if I was okay, that I wanted her.

Badly.

Wanting had never been the problem in the least, but now with Walker cooperating, my gang tat gone, months of quiet… It was time to fight for her.

But this time, it was for good. None of this dating crap. I was talking ring-on-her-finger, for good, fighting for her.

The screen door creaked open, and I jumped up. “Hello?”Shit. I hadn’t heard anyone pull up.

“You don’t get to say crap like that then walk away,” Lizzie said. “Doesn’t work that way.”

“LizBelle?” I shuffled to the side, and I heard Killer get up. “Killer, heel. LizBelle, what are you doing here?”

Her arms latched around my neck, her body flush with mine, and she kissed me so hard my lips stung. I didn’t care, though.

I held onto her for dear life and kissed her back. I never knew what home felt like until that very moment. It was her.Shemade wherever I was, home. Even blind I could see that. I almost trashed it like, as she called it, a coward. Ran when things got rough.

Her sugary taste coated my tongue. She must have chewed up a storm of Blow Pops to make a move this bold. And bold it was. Storming in here, yanking me into a kiss.

And I loved it.

I loved her.

I wasn’t sure how long I held her, and it didn’t matter, I’d hold her forever, but she finally pulled away. Only a fraction of an inch, though. “I’ve decided you don’t get to decide about us.”

I kissed her lips.

“What about douchebag?” I kissed her again.

“Trent’s gone.”

“He never should have been in the picture. I was stupid.”

“Yeah. You were.” She laughed against my lips. “Very stupid.”

“You didn’t. You and he—”

“Nope.”

“That means, you and I can—”

“Nope. You ripped my heart out with a spoon, mister. You don’t getthatwithout a little work.”

“Work, huh?” I shuffled forward to where I knew there was room to clear the coffee table. “I’m up for some work.”Literally.

She clamped her legs around me. “Something you can’t run from if you get spooked.”

“I’m in.” I cradled her against me with one arm as I put out my other, reaching for the wall I knew was coming. “Can I show you my room? That’s a big step. A guy’s room.”

“I’ve never seen a guy’s room before,” she whispered against my neck. “That’s a start.”

“How ’bout a ring?”

She jerked.

“I’m thinking platinum or white gold, a diamond the size of Mount Everest.”
