“Your shirt, too?” I asked, my cheeks flaming.

I wasn’t sure where this bravery was coming from, but I went with it.

Damon reached behind him, and with one quick movement, his shirt was off and tossed to the floor. His chest heaved, and the light from the TV bounced off fairly impressive pecs, which was surprising, since he’d been in a coma for a month. No chest hair, but I liked smooth.

He grabbed the hem of my shirt. “Do a sit-up.”

I did, and how he worked my shirt up so quickly was beyond me, but it was over my head on the floor next to his in the blink of an eye.

“What color?” he asked against my neck.

“What?” I combed my fingers through his hair. I couldn’t think straight. I couldn’t catch my breath, either. What was he doing to me?

“Bra. What color?”

“White.”

“Nice.” His mouth trailed my collarbone and forged a path to the clasp.

“Omigosh,” I whispered. “Damon.”

“I wish I could see you right now,” he said, breathless. “I bet you’re a thing of beauty.”

He pushed up with one hand, then his other came down on my face. Fingertips dusted over my forehead, then my eyes.

The heat spiked, my heart raced, and I couldn’t catch my breath.

His fingers found my mouth, and he trailed them along my bottom lip. “I wish I could see you.”

“Me, too,” I whispered, brushing my knuckles along his cheek.

“Hold on, LizBelle. We’re just getting started.”

Chapter Seventeen

Damon

Ascreamrippedmeout of the darkness, and I bolted up, reaching for Lizzie. Only she wasn’t beside me.

“Lizzie!” I stood, and a blanket tangled around my ankles. I fell back onto the couch, kicking it loose. How’d that get there? Last thing I remembered was holding Lizzie tight, after I’d kissed her silly. I must have fallen asleep.

Whimpers mixed with sobs flowed from behind me and to the right.Shit. I didn’t know the layout. Groping in front of me, I found the little table. I didn’t feel a phone.

“Lizzie!” I yelled louder.

My head pounded, the blood was raging through me so fast. One last kick had me free of the blanket, and I stood, my arms out. I had no idea where I was going, though.

I held my breath, and through the pounding in my chest, I heard Lizzie. She was crying. Okay, I needed to focus on that. Follow that sound. I shuffled forward, feeling for something.

My fingers met the soft leather couch. Okay, that I remembered from when I found my way here. And a table. I think—

Crack.

My shin met the corner of said table with a stab.

Focus.

Shuffling forward, my hands out, I moved around the demon-table. Lizzie’s cries were getting louder. Shit, she could be anywhere. She’d helped me to the bathroom last night, but it was across the hall from her room according to what she’d said, so I needed to go left to get to her room.
