“It’s okay, LizBelle.”

“Well, his fan page has fun, positive, encouraging things on it all the time. And he kicks ass. I want to be strong like that.”

“I think you’re pretty strong.”

“You don’t know me yet. I mean, reallyknow me.”

“So tell me something.”

I took in a long breath, my mind reeling from that request. I didn’t want him to find out all my freak things, but he was already starting to. How would he react when he found out about my parents and how they died? The counting? The cleaning?

“When you’re ready.”

“I like things in threes,” I whispered. “Counting especially. It calms me.”

“Doing the lock three times. I get it. You always been that way?”

“No. Kind of developed after I busted through the agoraphobia.”

“Can you tell me what caused it yet?”

Squealing tires of a car chase on the screen drew my attention. Talking about Mom and Dad’s death. That took too much energy. I wanted to enjoy this. Carefree and light.

“Okay, we’ll save it for our next date.”

“Next date, huh?”

“I see many dates in our future.”

“Seethem, huh?”

“You know what I mean.” He kissed my hair. “Turn around.”

I did, and he looked down at me—at least in his way. It was different the way his eyes didn’t focus on me. Not so much weird, just…it was Damon. That was how he looked at things.

And I liked it.

“I alsoseemuch more kissing in our future.” His nose rubbed mine. “Sweet. I was aiming for your nose.”

I laughed.

He nuzzled my nose more until our lips met. “I like these better, though.”

“Me too,” I said against his mouth. And I liked it a lot. Especially how turned on my body was. Being so close to him, breathing in his breath, tasting that sucker he’d eaten.

Wait, was he still chewing gum? I had to find out.

Pushing up for a better angle, I dove in. He moaned, and his hand went to my head, holding me close. His tongue stroked mine as if he, too, were searching for my bubble gum. Of course I didn’t have any, no way. I’d probably choke on it while kissing him.

That’d be my luck.

His hand snuck beneath my shirt and cupped my waist. The contact sent a thrill streaking through my stomach. He leaned in, slightly, and his thigh fell between my legs.

“Oh,” I whispered at the contact. That felt freaking awesome. I kissed him harder, needing to be closer, to feel more of him. God, my body was on fire.

My cheeks flamed from embarrassment, but at that moment, I didn’t care. Nothing mattered but his body. His fingers. His mouth.

“Off,” he whispered, his voice raspy and deep, as he tugged at my shirt.
