“Hunter?” I asked.

“Yeah. Me and Lina. What—”

“Lizzie, it’s okay, hon,” Angelina said from behind me. I turned around, wishing to God I could see what was happening.

“Someone start talking. I can’t see shit.”

“Night terror,” Angelina said. “It’s okay, Lizzie. Breathe. Where’s your beach? What’s the sand feel like? Is it hot there? Come on, sweetie.”

Shit, why didn’t I remember that? I was useless. I couldn’t see shit. Couldn’t help Lizzie. She sounded so scared.

I sat on her bed and reached out, hoping I could find her arm again. Patting the bed, I finally connected with some part of her body. Curling my fingers around it, I realized it was her wrist again. Her skin was damp. “LizBelle?”

“She gets these every once in a while. She’ll be okay,” Angelina said. “You’re okay, Lizzie.”

“Holy shit,” I whispered.

“They’re scary as hell,” Hunter said from beside me now. “Lina gets them once in a while, too. Less now, but in the beginning…”

“Night terror.” I knew them all too well. And yeah, they sucked ass.

“What are you doing here, Damon?” Hunter asked.

“Lizzie broke me out of hospital jail. Crashing here tonight.”

“Drey blow a gasket?”

“And then some.” I shrugged, patting Lizzie’s hand.

“What about physical therapy?”

“I’ll figure it out. Is Lizzie okay?” I traced my fingers up her arm to her shoulder, then skimmed her face. “She’s sweating so much. Grab me a washcloth.”

“Oh hey, let me see your arm.”

Now that Hunter mentioned my arm, some pain registered. Wonder how bad my shin was. And my cheek.

Being blind fucking sucked.

Hunter groped my arm a little, then I heard him step away. “Hey, LizBelle, you okay?”

“She’s out. Terror bled into a panic attack. But she’s okay.”

“Here,” Hunter said, and a damp cloth touched my hand. I snatched it and found my way to Lizzie’s face.

“It’s all good, girl. You walking the beach?” I dabbed her face. “No skinny-dipping without me, you hear?”

Angelina laughed. “You got it here?”

“Where’s her phone?” I asked. I wasn’t going to be caught without one from this second forward.

“Here.” Angelina tapped my shoulder, and I faced her. After she had me speak into it a few times, she said, “You’re programmed in. Just tell Siri to call Lara Croft, and it’ll buzz me.”

I reached up, and she put the phone in my hand. “Thanks. I need to talk to Drey about getting me one of these. This being blind shit sucks ass.”

“You found your way in here,” Angelina said. “Might have lost some skin doing it, but you did.”

I huffed. As long as a video of me doing that didn’t make it online I’d be fine. I had to have looked like a jackass. Maybe that walking stick might be worth another try.
