Isla giggled and smacked my ass as I walked swiftly into the bathroom. After doing exactly what I said I would, we got dressed, and I made us pancakes.

While we ate, I watched her every movement, still in awe that this elegant, beautiful creature was mine. And loving the tableau of the two of us sitting at the breakfast table.

Hopefully, it would eventually be the three of us. Then four. And eventually however many babies she wanted to give me.

“You know, I just realized that in all of the time we’ve been getting to know each other, I didn’t think to ask what you do for a living.” I felt like an asshole that I hadn’t inquired into that area of her life. Especially after she’d listened to my whole sob story.

“I own a food delivery service. Monster Delivery,” she informed me before taking another bite of pancake and sighing with happiness. It didn’t matter that I just had her once in the bed and once in the shower, that little sigh… I was hard as a fucking rock again.

I shoved away my growing desire, knowing I couldn’t make her any later than she already was.

“Like the drink?”

Isla chuckled. “We deliver those, too. But that’s not where the real name comes from. Although, I must admit it played a factor.”

Amused, I asked, “What do you mean?”

“I knew humans who heard the name would associate it with the drink. But anyone around Screaming Woods who is a monster, or knows about them, is aware that the name just means ‘monsters’ are delivering the food. And all by air.”

“Brilliant,” I mumbled as I thought about her explanation. “All of your employees can fly?”

She nodded proudly.

I could easily imagine that an electric man, a phoenix, a demon, or even a green witch and her headless husband, wouldn’t want to order food from a standard delivery service. Using Monster Delivery, they wouldn’t have to hide themselves when opening the door. Plus, if they ate anything unusual, Isla and her people wouldn’t balk at their order or make fun.

Suddenly, an idea began to form in my mind. I was instantly excited and running through all the different scenarios that I could think of. Well, fuck. Why didn’t I think of this before?

“Where did you go?” Isla laughed, snapping her fingers in front of my face.

I shook my head and smiled. “I’ll tell you tonight. I’m still mulling things over in my mind.”

Isla raised an eyebrow and stared at me intensely, as if she had the power of mind control. I laughed and wagged my finger. “You won’t break me, baby.” Then I slowly dragged my eyes toward the bed and back to my girl. “Unless…”

Isla glanced at her watch, and a cute pout formed on her pretty lips. “I’m late as it is. I need to get in and get payroll sorted. And I’m short a couple of people today, so I’ll be doing some deliveries.”

I nodded and stood to gather our plates and take them to the sink. While Isla went to find her shoes and grab her jacket, I rinsed the dishes and put them in the dishwasher.

When she was ready, I reluctantly walked her to the door and opened it before giving her a kiss she wouldn’t soon forget. She looked dazed and dreamy when I released her lips, and I couldn’t help smirking with satisfaction.

Isla exhaled slowly and blinked a few times before stepping out onto the porch. Then she shot me a cheeky smile. “If you get bored, you can always fill in for one of my fliers.”

I laughed and curled my hand around her neck to pull her in for one last kiss. “Actually, I’m going to call Heath and give him the good news. He and I have a lot to talk about. And I have plans to make. That should keep me busy until you come home to me.”

Isla frowned and pinched her lips together, but her expression cleared as fast as it had clouded over.

She winked and blew me a kiss. I needed one more taste, so I reached for her, but before I caught her, she spread her wings and shot up into the air. “Cheater!” I shouted. I felt a little better when I heard her laughter ring through the trees as it faded away.

I returned inside the cabin, shut the door, and immediately hunted down my cell phone. Sitting at the little desk by the window, I moved all the art supplies out of the way and opened my laptop. I researched for a couple of hours, wanting to make sure that I was on more solid footing when I brought my idea to Heath. By the time I finished, I had several pages of notes to go through with him.

I made myself a quick lunch and returned to my seat before dialing Heath’s number and putting my phone on speaker.

“Well, if it isn’t my long-lost brother,” Heath drawled.

“It hasn’t been that long, but I’ll cop to being lost.”

“Please tell me you’re calling to give me your flight information and that you’re on your way home.”

I shook my head, even though he couldn’t see it. “No, man. I found her.”
