“May we continue?” The officiant asked, smiling at us indulgently.

“Please,” I said, slipping my hands back into Gabe’s.

“Do you, Allegra Giulia Teresa D’Angelo, take Gabriele to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forth, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?”

My eyes dancing, I let out a sigh. “Fine. Whatever.”

Gabe’s eyes lit up with laughter, and his chuckle skittered across my skin and settled into my heart.

“Just kidding. Yes. Very much yes. I do.”

Next came the ring exchange. A simple platinum band to go with my sapphire engagement ring. Then we were proclaimed husband and wife. I stepped forward, threw my arms around my incredibly hot husband, and gave him a somewhat indecent kiss.

I never imagined that what started at my best friend’s wedding would end with my own, but the joy I felt, in that moment, with Gabe’s arms around me, was almost overwhelming. “I love you,” I said, against his lips.

“I love you, too.”

And it wasn’t at all annoying.
