It took a second or two for Jane to understand who Natasha was talking about.

"NEVER!" Jane shouted in reply, to have her friend give her some space.

"I was asking because he might have followed you here and decided t…”

"Please don't," Jane pleaded, her body turning shaky, and Natasha comforted her.

"It happens sometimes, my things suddenly go missing when I'm in dire need of them and appear when I don't even need them," Jane said, and Natasha nodded because she had the same experience too.

"I think I'll continue the search tonight or tomorrow morning. Today's job hunt is canceled," she declared.

"That's better," Natasha agreed.

"Let's tidy up," Jane suggested, and that was how they forgot about that incident.

"You are up early," Natasha said in surprise. She wanted to ask that as a question but figured it to be a stupid question.

"Yes, I am up early," Jane replied as she brushed her long hair.

"Seen your documents yet?"

"No," came her short reply.

"Isn't it wise to check it up before thinking about dressing up for the day?" questioned Natasha with furrowed brows, and Jane nodded.

"It is indeed wise to check it up first before doing anything else, but I don't want to dampen my mood this morning."

"What difference does it make? Your mood will still get dampened anyway," Natasha muttered, but Jane gave out an I-don't-care look that bothered her.

"I'll go look for it," she offered.

"Don't," Jane refused and continued with the brushing of her hair Natasha felt like the hair had received more attention and care than her in her lifetime.

Through with everything, she went to the same spot where she kept her documents, only to see them there, staring at her in the face. Seeing shock written all over Jane's face, Natasha rushed forward and saw the documents calmly waiting to be picked up. Feeling happy, she didn't expect Jane to start murmuring out of the blue, throwing glares at the innocent paper as if she would tear it into tiny pieces if given the chance to.

Chapter 7:Strange Call

A week after the incident, Jane continued her search for a job while consciously putting her CV in a place where she wouldn't have to turn the house upside down to find it.

Natasha thought that if those documents were made of fabric or squeezable materials, Jane would take them everywhere, even to bed and the bathroom.

One Saturday, after finishing their chores and about to eat, Jane's phone rang. She wondered if her parents were calling her at a time like this since she had no one else in mind.

"Here's your phone," Natasha, who was closer to the phone, brought it to her.

"Who is it?" whispered Jane.

"An unfamiliar number," Natasha whispered back. Jane pondered for a while before accepting the call.

"Hello?" she said, putting the phone on hands-free mode, and the voice of the person on the other end resounded in the room.

"Hello, am I speaking to Jane Frank?" an official female voice asked from the other side of the phone.

"Y…es, you are," she drawled, unsure of how to respond.

"Okay, I'm the assistant manager of Precious Collections," the person continued, and Jane saw her friend's exaggerated reaction to the words of the unknown person.

She wanted to ask the reason for her friend's reaction, but Natasha quickly signaled her to continue with the call before she could do that.
