"Okay, I am Jane Frank," Jane responded to the stranger's earlier words, and Natasha slapped her own forehead, wondering where Jane forgot her brains.

"Now I see why you are unable to secure a job even with your high IQ," thought Natasha in her head.

"Of course, I know that you're Jane Frank," the caller said with a short laugh, which accompanied her words. "I called to tell you that you've secured a job in Precious Collections as the Marketing Manager, and you're free to start next week Monday."

Jane felt like she was hearing some sort of gibberish, and Natasha's silent shouts and dance of celebration were an overreaction.

"Hello, there?"

"Yes, yes, I am here. I didn't quite get your earlier statement," she said, and the woman repeated her words again, while Nat gave her a weird stare as if she was dumb.

"Uuhm…I don't remember applying for a position in that company, nor do I remember having an interview there," Jane said, receiving a mild knock on the head from her friend.

"Ouch!" she exclaimed, wondering when her friend got there.

"Is anything the matter?" the woman questioned.

"No, nothing," she replied, glaring at her friend.

"Maybe you don't, but you submitted your CV to be screened, and we have picked you and a few others to work with us," the woman replied, and Jane scratched her head, unsure of what to do.

Natasha kept signaling her to accept the job immediately, but she couldn't because she felt uncomfortable.

"Eerrh, can I reject the offer if I want to?" Jane asked, and Natasha looked like she had seen a ghost.

"Sure, you can, but with a valid reason," came the voice from the other end.

“Okay, give me two days to decide.”

“Okay then, have a great day ahead.” And with that, the call ended.

Natasha rushed towards Jane like crazy afterward, making Jane fear for her precious life. After grabbing hold of her friend, Natasha shook her hard, as if shaking her would bring back Jane’s brain which she believed to be lost somewhere.

“Who in their right senses would want to reject a job like that?” Natasha exclaimed.

“Do you know what you have done?”

“No,” Jane replied innocently, making the anxious Natasha pinch her cheek as if she was still a little girl.

Natasha took her time to give details about the company and it turned out that the popular Melissa Jason, a fashionista, was the owner of the company which had a lot of branches in the U.S. She was also Natasha’s role model.

“But I still can’t accept such a job. What if it’s a trap?”

“It’s not a trap,” Natasha retorted.

“I can still remember the names of the places I’ve gone to search for a job, and this company’s name is not included.”

“So?”

“Come on, Nat, doesn’t it look suspicious? I’m sure this is related to the missing documents, can’t you see?”

“But at least it got missing for a better reason. You’d get to work in a high-class company and get a bigger amount of money.”

“No, Natasha, you don’t understand.”

“Make me understand then.”

“Last time when those documents got missing, you mentioned the possibility of the monster being related to it,” Jane said, as her pupils dilated, fear becoming evident in every fiber of her being.
