“This had better be good,” he growled. Bone took the phone from him, turning on FaceTime. He panned the burning buildings and streets, then spoke.

“Listen good, amigo. The barrio is no more. Your warehouse is no more. You own nothing. You have nothing.”

Perez screamed on the other end of the line, cursing and yelling at whoever was in the room with him.

“Who are you? Who the fuck do you think you are screwing with me?” he screamed into the phone.

“We are your enemies,” said Luke calmly. “We are greater in numbers. We are stronger. We are smarter. You now own – nothing. Nothing.”

“I will find you, and I will kill you,” he spat into the phone.

“Oh, no need for such extreme measures. We’re here. Come and get us,” said Luke. They could hear Perez whispering to the other men. One of them was wise enough to say it was a trap and attempt to discourage his boss from going.

“I will kill everyone you love. Every person you know will die,” said Perez.

“Seriously, you need to get a handle on your ego, little man,” said Luke. “You’re nothing but a two-bit Mexican hood. Even the gang leaders and cartels don’t want to deal with you any longer. You will have no business anywhere.”

“Why are you doing this? What did I do to you?” he asked. Luke nodded at Bone.

“Simple. You touched my fiancée.”

“I touch a lot of women,” laughed Perez. “You have to be more specific.”

“Londyn Vacarro.”

The silence was so deafening Bone thought he might have hung up on him. Then he heard the soft shuffling, followed by heavy breathing.

“She is mine,” he growled.

“Oh, no, I’m afraid not,” said Bone. “She’s mine. She’s safe. She’s healthy. She’s happy. And, she’s mine. You will never even have a glimpse of her again. You’re going to pay for what you’ve done, and this is just the beginning.” Luke ended the call and tossed the man his phone.

“You might want to change your number,” grinned Luke. “Or, better yet, run. He knows we called from that phone, and he’s not going to be happy.”

“You’ve signed my death warrant.”

“Yes. Yes, we did,” said Bone. The man turned, jogging toward a car and driving off. When a group of federal agents walked toward them, Luke shook his head, smiling at them.

“Glad you boys could come,” he grinned.

“Luke Robicheaux,” smirked one of the men. “Why do carnage and destruction always follow the RP men? Is it a requirement of being part of your little team?”

“Well, you know, we like to be consistent,” he said, shaking his hand. “How are you, Tre?”

“I’m good, brother. Becca gave birth to number three last week,” he said, shaking his head.

“Congrats!”

“Yea, it’s a noisy house, which is why I’m here. We got all the women and children getting treatment. Most want to go back to Mexico, and we’ll help them do that. We’re going to keep some ATF and Border Patrol boys here for the next few weeks. City will most likely bulldoze everything.”

“Do you think they’ll rebuild?” asked Cam. Tre shrugged.

“I don’t know, man. These people have been here for decades. It’s their neighborhood. It just got taken from them by Perez. Speaking of. Where is he?”

“In New Orleans,” frowned Luke.

“No shit? Does he know where he is?” smirked the man.

“No. He just thinks he’s following a woman that he wants as his own. Unfortunately for him, Bone has already claimed her.” The agent turned, seeing Bone, HG, and Hoot. He shook his head.
