If those were someone else’s underwear…

I would die.

Too quickly for him to stop me, I plucked them from his fingers, opening them up.

And blinked at them.

Definitely mine.

My gaze jerked down to his.

Even with that overgrown stubble and all that long hair, I could see that his face was red.

“Why do you have these?” I asked him. “And when did you take them?” After a short pause, I added, “Also, do you have anyone else’s underwear hidden in here?”

I craned my neck to look around as I asked.

He reached a hand up to the back of his neck and rubbed a little. “I took them after I put the box away a few days ago. Couldn’t resist. I told you, your scent…” His expression darkened. “And of course I don’t have anyone else’s underwear. Unless you’re referring to mine and Lucas’s, because all werewolves keep changes of clothing in their vehicle.”

Hmm.

I guess the thievery wasn’t really out of character for him, given the way he had talked about my smell earlier.

“You’re not doing anything weird with them? Burning them for the devil or anything?” I checked.

His nose wrinkled. “No.”

“Jerking off?”

The red on his cheeks darkened, and his gaze lifted to mine. “I tried. Not with the damn panties, but I tried. And failed. Pretty sure your venom wrecked me.”

Ohhh.

I liked that more than I should’ve.

“It wasn’t my venom. I could get you off even without biting you.” I tugged my damp hair behind my head so it would stop sticking to my throat.

His eyes blazed. “Prove it.”

I lifted an eyebrow at him. “I thought we were both giving equally.”

Those eyes darkened. “And I haven’tgiven you enoughwhen we screwed before?”

Something about that gaze told me that I needed to be careful about how I answered him.

“You’ve always made sure I was just as satisfied as you, Kai. You know that.”

The tension in his shoulders relaxed slightly.

I added, “I don’t need you to prove that you can get me off; we both know you’re plenty capable of that. I’m basically putty in your stupidly-attractive hands.”

One of said stupidly-attractive hands slid over my bare thigh, but he said nothing, waiting for me to finish explaining.

“If you want me to prove how good I can be to you physically, without my teeth, then you’ll have to be good to me emotionally. Make me believe you’re not going to end things the next time you show up at my door, and maybe I’ll make it worth your time.”

His expression softened a lot, and his hand gripped my thigh. “How do you suggest I do that?”

“Show up,” I said simply. “It only takes a heartbeat to break someone’s trust, but it takes much longer to earn it back.” Gently, I pulled his hand off my leg. “I think my phone is still in my car, so just follow me to my place.”
