“It actually is,” she said. “I never make the first move toward anyone. I don’t like conflict. I just try to stay back and let things happen around me or fall where they may.”

He’d figured that out about her early on. “That’s not a bad thing.”

“It is,” she said. “You make me happy. I’m not trying to put pressure on you or anything like that. You made time for us today. I know it was to talk, but you still did it. You heard me out and believed me. You’ve encouraged me from the day you met me and have given me a chance.”

“I don’t want payback sex,” he said firmly.

“Really, Duke,” she said, laughing. “You’re cocky enough to know that women want you for your body.”

He had to laugh at the smirk she had on her face. “Maybe. So that is all it is to you?”

“No,” she said. “It’s all those things I saidandyour body. I just want to feel like a woman. Someone that is in a normal new relationship or dating or whatever it is we’ve got. I feel the burn and attraction with you and I’m sick of overthinking everything to death. I just want to feel.”

“If you gave me any other explanation I would have tried to talk you out of it.”

She wanted to feel. It was honest and it was more expressive than he’d seen in her eyes before.

They were light and dilated. There was a depth of emotion in them when they looked at him. Arousal for sure but something more.

He’d have to tell himself to not get drawn in too deeply.

It was new yet and early and they were going to try to make it work the way it did.

It sounded as if she had a lot of baggage but not nearly what his mind had created after talking to Stan.

He reached for her hand and pulled her out of the kitchen and to the other end of the house where his primary suite was.

“You’re going to do it?” she asked as if she was shocked.

He laughed. “You just said you wanted to. Are you changing your mind? Or did you think I’d say no?”

“I didn’t think you’d say no until you made the last statement. Now I’ve got my doubts. Don’t do it for me.”

He shook his head. “How about we do it for each other?”

“I like the sound of that,” she said.

He didn’t like how unsure she seemed though, so he reached down and picked her up, cradling her in his arms as he walked down the hall.

They got to his room and he laid her on her bed, him coming down on top of her, his mouth smothering hers.

The taste of her lips was more intoxicating than anything he’d ever made or eaten in his life. He was drawn into her like a bee to honey.

Sweetness like never before and it was going to be all his to pollinate and flourish.

Her hands went under his shirt and up his back, her nails lightly scratching him, her hips lifting and pressing against his rock-hard dick.

“What else do you like?” he asked. He wanted to go slow with her. Savor her. Let her feel as if she was the only one on his mind...because she was.

“Anything you do I’m going to love,” she said. “I know it already. My body is on fire so just don’t make me wait too long.”

He wasn’t so sure he could wait that long either.

He pulled her shirt over her head, her white cotton bra simple and innocent looking. She was still thin but not as frail looking as the first time he’d met her. Probably because she had no problem putting food away now.

Whether it was because she had less stress in her life or that she was happy to be with him and what he put in front of her, he didn’t know and really didn’t care.

He just knew he had to get his mouth on hers.
