“I’m fine, babygirl.” Pulling away from the embrace, Michelle smiled, but the gesture was strained around the edges. “Did you have a good time?”

Her first instinct was to push for an answer, but Michelle had always been a very private person. It was unlikely she was going to pour her heart out in front of a bunch of people she barely knew. So Allie forced a smile of her own and nodded. “The best time. Master Derek made waffles. And there’s blueberry syrup.”

“I’m not really hungry, but you go ahead and finish up.”

Okay, something was definitely wrong if Michelle was turning down blueberry syrup. “Actually, I’m pretty full. Let me go grab my stuff and we can go.”

Without giving her a chance to argue, Allie turned and bolted down the hall to Sadie’s bedroom and packed everything as quickly as she could, her stomach tying itself into more and more knots the longer she was away from Michelle. By the time she made it back to the kitchen, she couldn’t have eaten a single bite of waffle if she’d tried.

“Ready!” She kept her tone light and happy, not wanting to risk Sadie and Hayleigh making a fuss.

Which they did anyway, but in the best possible way. Jumping up from their spots at the table, they raced over and hugged her tightly, squealing and telling her how much fun they’d had and how they couldn’t wait to do it again.

Allie managed to extricate herself without any set-in-stone promises and then she was finally alone with Michelle, walking hand in hand back to the main building of the Ranch.

“How was your sleepover?” Michelle asked, swinging their hands lightly between them, as if everything was just fine.

If that was how she wanted to play it, Allie was willing to play along. For now. “It was so much fun! We had pizza and all kinds of junk food and then we braided each other’s hair.”

“Hmmm. And is that all you did?”

There was a note of teasing in Michelle’s tone that had alarm bells ringing in Allie’s mind. Master Derek, it seemed, was a big ole snitch. “Umm, we also tried to dye Sadie’s hair, but it didn’t really work out.”

“I see. And did you have permission to dye Sadie’s hair?”

Crap. “No, Ma’am.”

“Then that was a very naughty thing to do, wasn’t it, little girl?”

“Yes, Ma’am. Master Derek already spanked us, though.”

“Good. I’m sure he did a very thorough job.”

“He did.” Guilt pricked at the back of her mind. “Hayleigh’s gonna get another spanking though.”

“Oh? Why is that?”

“Her Daddy has a rule that if she gets in trouble at someone’s house then she gets another spanking when she gets home.”

“I see.” Pausing outside their room, Michelle fished the key out of her pocket and opened the door. As Allie passed her, Michelle took the duffel back from her shoulder and dropped it onto the ground before turning Allie to face her. “We don’t have a rule like that, but I have a feeling you’re going to feel guilty all day if you don’t get a second punishment, too. Won’t you, babygirl?”

“Yes, Ma'am,” Allie whispered.

“That’s what I thought. But I’m not sure another spanking is the right punishment for my naughty girl.” Tilting her head to the side, Michelle tapped a finger on her lips, making a show of considering her options even though Allie had a feeling she already had something in mind. “I think no orgasms for twenty-four hours should drive the point home rather nicely.”

“Shelly, no!” Allie would rather take a dozen spankings with her least favorite implement thanthat. “I’ll never be naughty at someone else’s house ever again!”

“Then I obviously chose the right punishment. Why don’t you change, and we’ll head down to the activity center? I heard a rumor there was an ornament painting party today.”

Torn between Big and Little, Allie hesitated, nibbling on her bottom lip. “Are you gonna tell me why you looked so sad this morning?”

Tears shimmered in Michelle’s eyes, but only for a moment before she blinked them away and flashed another overly-bright smile. “I’m not sad, babygirl. I just missed you.”

Maybe that had been part of it, but “just missing” her hadn’t put that pain in her eyes. But Allie didn’t want to fight, and it wasn’t like she could just spank Michelle into talking to her. So she set it aside, promising herself she’d get to the bottom of it later.

She may not have been the bossy one in their relationship, but she had her own ways of finding out the truth.
