As soon as the chain is cut, they both take big steps back from each other.

“You’re pretty ballsy,” I say. I’m not sure I’ve ever admired a person more.

“Declan, can I see you in the kitchen?” Will pulls me away from her.

“What the hell are you doing?” He seethes once we’re out of earshot.

I nod toward her. “Look at her. What do you think I’m doing?”

“No. Just no.” He’s shaking his head. “She just handcuffed herself to me.”

I laugh. “I know. That’s why I like her. I’d fucking love to be handcuffed to her.”

He points at me. “No, Declan. I’m serious.”

I hold up my hands and then nod toward his wrist. “What are we going to do about that.”

“You think we can pick it?” Will asks.

“Unlikely, but I brought some supplies to try.”

We work for an hour trying to pick the cuff on his wrist with no luck. Olivia just sits at the kitchen island and watches us without a word.

“You have the key somewhere, right?” Will asks.

She nods.

“What do you want in exchange?” he asks. I’m honestly surprised he hasn’t called the police. He looks so angry.

“Meetings,” she says. “At least ten, and they need to be soon - in the next week.”

Will shakes his head. “I can’t do a week, but I can do within a month.”

Her eyes light up just a little. “Okay. You promise?”

He braces hands on the counter and leans forward slightly. “I’m a man of my word.”

“To a fault,” I mumble. He glares at me. Looks like he’s regretting calling me. Well, he would have spent the night handcuffed to me if he hadn’t.

“Okay,” she says as she pulls the key out of her coat pocket.

Will’s jaw drops, and I lean my head back and cackle.

“I knew I liked you,” I say, pointing at Olivia. God, what a woman.

“You had it on you this whole time?” Will roars.

I’m doubled over laughing.

“Why didn’t you tell me you had the key?” Will continues, his face growing red.

“You didn’t ask this time,” she shrugs and holds out the key. Will snatches it from her and unlocks his cuff and then tosses it to her.

“The meetings?” she asks as she unlocks her cuff.

“Call my office. Press three when you get to the automated system. Ask for Cynthia. I’ll tell her to set up your meetings.”

She stands up. “Thank you.”
