Will walks over and holds the door open. I follow him. “If you try something like this again, I will have you arrested and file a restraining order.”

“You’re no fun,” I say, and he elbows me. She just looks from him to me and back again.

“Okay.” She gives a little nod and walks down the hall.

Once she’s halfway down the hall, I whistle softly – so softly only Will can hear.

“Don’t even think about it,” he says through clenched teeth.

“Oh, come on,” I say.

He calls to Olivia, “This better be the last time I see you.”

She doesn’t turn around and just holds her middle finger up over her head.

I burst out laughing again. “God, what a woman. I think I’m in love.”

“Shut up.”

I pat him on the back. “You really are no fun.”

The whole way home, I can’t get her out of my head. It’s the first time I’ve felt even a stirring of attraction for a woman other than Maggie in months. This is good – well, bad in regards to Will, but good for me. Maybe she’s just what I need to pull back from Maggie.

Maggie and Declan Text Thread

Maggie: You’ve been quiet recently. Everything okay?

Declan: Yeah, of course.

Maggie: Off on some big adventure?

Declan: In between at the moment.

Maggie: Oh, want to meet up soon? I’m free this weekend.

Declan: Maybe. This weekend isn’t good for me.

Maggie: Ok. Sometime soon then.
