Chapter Twenty-Eight

Declan

Her flight leaves beforemine. I have half a mind to change my flight and go home with her. I don’t know how I’ll manage being apart from her after the last week.

Holy shit. What a week. We never left the house once.

“What you are smiling about?” she says, leaning her shoulder against me.

“Fucking you in the ocean,” I say.

She’s looking ahead but a smile spreads over her face. “Oh, I was just thinking about how you bent me over the balcony railing and what we did in the hot tub.”

My smile grows bigger. Fuck me. Every time was better than the last.

“Is it wrong of me to say I’m going to be a little sad if you get pregnant this month?” I ask.

She laughs.

“I’ll be happy for you, but...”

“You want to do that again.”

I turn toward her. “Fuck yes.”

“Me too,” she whispers and then she stands up. “My flight is boarding.”

She leans forward. She’s wearing that fucking yellow sundress that I love so much, and I can see straight down it.

“Eyes up here, Sterling,” she says pointing to her face. I don’t move my gaze.

“Why would I do that?”

She clears her throat.

“Okay, fine,” I peel my eyes away from her breasts and look into her eyes.

“Declan, you’re my best friend, but...” She leans in and whispers in my ear. “You’re an even better lover. No onehas ever made me come like you do.”

She kisses my cheek.

“Have fun wherever the hell you’re going.” Without another word, she walks away, luggage in hand. When she’s almost at her gate, she gives a little wave over her shoulder.

It takes me a full five minutes after she leaves to realize my mouth is hanging open.

Maggie and Declan Text Thread

Declan: Made it to Ecuador.

Maggie: Ecuador – so that’s where you were going.

Declan: You make it back okay?

Maggie: Yes.

Declan: Was it wrong of me not to fly back with you?
