Piper: Yes.
Finn: I’ll make sure he keeps an eye on you.
Piper: You’re really close to him, aren’t you?
Finn: Yes. Are you close to your parents?
Piper: I am—and I miss them a lot.
Finn: I’ll make sure this ends soon so you can return home.
Piper: Thank you. I have to go. Your dad and I are watching a movie while the donuts cool.
Piper: Be safe.
ChapterThirty-Four
Derek: How are you today?
Piper: Are you guys going to rescue Teddy soon?
Derek: Tomorrow is the day. Seth is doing well, and he’s coming with us.
Piper: Do you believe him?
Piper: Seth can go on a mission with a broken arm and not tell anyone. Be careful with him.
Derek: He’s done that?
Piper: Yep. He and Archer used to do that often.
Derek: How close were Archer and Seth?
Piper: They were best friends and partners during missions.
Piper: After Archer went missing, Seth has never been the same—but he’s good at his job.
Derek: I can see there’s some kind of understanding between them, even though Finn doesn’t realize it.
Piper: How’s Finn doing?
Derek: I don’t know.
Piper: Why? Aren’t you two working together?
Derek: Yes, but before a mission, he puts all his emotions in a box, and it’s hard to know what’s happening with him.
Piper: Same old Archer but with another name and a badass attitude.
Derek: You think he hasn’t changed?
Piper: Some things are the same. Music is a big part of his mood. If you want him to relax, play some Beethoven or Bach.
Derek: Music by Piper?
Piper: That should help too.
Derek: Hey, I would like to keep chatting, but we have to run a drill.
