We read mostof the passages in the journal and learned how much she hid from everyone after Archer went missing. The fact that I was the rock she leaned on while she was heartbroken gives me some hope. She admitted that she loved me at some point, but her loyalty to Archer never wavered.

I’m happy to learn that I made a difference, and she’s open to being with us. Making her fall in love with us might be the hardest part, when she’s trying to forget us, but I’m… I pause all my thoughts when I remember the bank withdrawal.

I glance at Finn, who’s holding the journal. His shoulders slump, and his eyes are closed.

“So, she’s having your baby, huh?” I try to lighten his mood.

He straightens up, his jaw set and tight. “Archer’s baby,” he corrects me. “According to her, we’re not the same. He was some kind of genius with a golden heart. I’m a monster.”

“That’s not what she said,” I remind him with a gentle voice.

He scoffs, looking away. “Talk about irony. I’m working with my therapist to understand that Finnegan and Archer are the same person, and she’s burying a part of me alive.”

I wink at him. “She hasn’t seen the new and improved Finnegan Gil yet, has she? Play your cards right and she’ll fall in love with you too.”

He hesitates before asking cautiously, “What about us?”

“Are you ready to go and get our woman?”

He runs a hand through his dark hair. “So what if we don’t get her? There’s no you and me?”

I glance at the journal. “We were reading the same material. She loves us—she wants us. We don’t choose, we give everything to her and wait until she accepts that we can be what she needs.”

“If she’s expecting a baby?” His voice is almost a whisper.

“You don’t want kids?” I ask.

“I do. I just… what if she uses the baby as an excuse?”

I grin. “What if we use the baby as leverage to be with her? We offer her a family for your baby.”

He walks around and points at the box. “I don’t want the future they planned, but I want to be a part of whatever the three of us create together.”

“Thank fuck,” I mumble and take him into my arms and kiss him.

It’s a desperate kiss and nothing like before. This time it’s us pouring all the love we’ve been harboring for years and never sharing with each other because there were too many obstacles. Finn, finally accepting his past, demolishes one of the walls he built around his heart. I can see a future between us, but the most challenging part is about to come. Piper.

We flyto Seattle first and plan to meet with Gabe, Seth, and Jude in Piper and Archer’s old house. When we enter, they’re already there. Gabe and Jude are the spitting images of their grandfather, Gabe Colt. Tall, lean but built with captivating blue eyes and a face chiseled by a Greek sculptor.

One of them gets close and sizes Finn up and down. “Why did you call us? Did you finally remember everything because if you did, you know you owe me money?”

“Jude, don’t start,” the man, I assume is Gabe, groans.

Jude raises his hands in surrender. “Fine, I’ll stop giving him a hard time.”

Finn turns to look at Gabe almost immediately. “How do we get her back?”

“What are you asking?” Gabe looks at him with confusion.

“After reading all the letters I left, I saw you were mentioned several times. I guess you know more than these two about my relationship with Piper.”

“Oh, you want to get Piper back?” He laughs. “Don’t count me in. What are you going to do with your wife and son? She will hate herself if she learns she’s breaking up a family.”

“I don’t have a family,” he says firmly.
