“Teddy?” He sighs. “Do I have to?”

“You need to. She’s your little sister.”

“Are you coming with me to meet her?”

“Nope.”

He presses his lips together. “When do I get to see my mother?”

I shrug. “That’s not my call. If you want to talk to her go ahead, but I don’t plan on calling her on your behalf.”

“I read how harsh she was with you.”

I wave a hand. “It’s her loss. I adored her, but…” I shrug.

“Then, we don’t talk to her.”

“She’s your mom.”

“Thanks to her, her son died.” He shrugs as if it doesn’t matter. “I’ll get ready for my appointments. Don’t forget to keep me posted as to where you’re going and what you’re doing.”

Derekand I check on the properties we bought a few years ago for our future practice. The properties we visit are in excellent condition, and though the renovations may take a few months, the possibility of opening our practice within a year is within reach.

Finn’s visit with Myles and Kingston goes well. However, our plans for the evening are short-lived as Derek receives a call from his brother requesting his help in San Francisco.

Without hesitation, Finn offers to fly us there. Since we’re free, he plans a date for us—and even hires a driver.

The caris spacious and the window between the chauffeur and us is up. I’m glad I wore a strapless dress with nothing else. After dinner, we can do more than just kiss.

Finn’s head lowers, and his lips graze my bare shoulder, sending shivers down my spine.

“Our first date,” he mumbles, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “The first of many,” he whispers, sending my heart fluttering with anticipation for what’s to come.

Many is a word that sounds just perfect, except we haven’t spoken about the future in detail. We’re no longer two children playing make-believe and planning to take the world by storm. Last night it all seemed possible, but as I try to define what I want for my future… reality is setting in, leaving me almost breathless at the possibility of walking away from them.

I close my eyes, wondering if our lives can just meld as easy as they make it seem.

Can they?

“What’s wrong, Piper?” he mumbles, nibbling my ear and sending shivers down my spine.

I shake my head, trying to concentrate on our conversation before I become a puddle of goo and ask him to fuck me senseless.

“Are you okay if we move to Seattle?”

His intense gaze studies me. “Have you two decided?” He moves closer, our mouths almost touch, and he catches my lips, giving me a brief kiss.

“No, but I don’t want to entertain the idea if —”

He gives me another kiss, and one of his hands pushes my legs open. His fingers graze my inner thighs as they move toward my core. I gasp, but he doesn’t let go of my mouth. My skin burns with every caress. I want him to move closer to my pussy, but he’s taking his time, teasing me. Just sliding his hand back and forth, not getting to where I want him to be.

I gasp when he finally reaches the lace of my panties. I groan when his thumb finds the lips of my pussy. His tongue swirls with mine, dancing with excitement.

“I need you,” he says, breaking the kiss and breathing erratically. “Need you now, but not here.”

He opens the partition between the driver and us to say, “Take us back to the hotel.” And closes the window immediately.
