“And what’s so bad about me?” Seb asked.
I laughed.
I started to walk away but Seb blocked my path.
He looked down at me.
I looked up at him.
A very loud silence fell between us.
I expected it to be very uncomfortable too.
But it wasn’t… at all.
Chapter Twenty-One
SEBASTIAN
I hatedthe idea of April being in any kind of trouble. Or in a situation that could lead to trouble. Especially since I was the one who put her in that position.
All for a dumb joke.
“Seb.”
I looked over my shoulder.
“Really?” April asked.
“What?”
“You’re pouting.”
“I’m not pouting. I don’t pout.”
“You’re punishing yourself. For something stupid. That guy stood no chance. Okay? Let it go. You set me up. It was perfect. Just like I set you up.”
I turned around. “But why? Why did we do that? All because of a blue bra?”
“You remembered the color of my bra?” April asked.
My jaw tightened.
I almost started to blush.
“That’s not the point of this thing,” I said.
“Seb, we’re messing around with each other. Don’t make this into something it’s not. I can give you a list of people to beat up if you really want to.”
“Why? Is someone bothering you?”
April let out a nervous laughed and stepped back. “No. I just… ahhh.” She waved her hands at me. “Ahhhto you.”
“Want a beer?” I offered.
“Yes, please.”
I got April a beer and closed in on her. “I’ll let it all go. I promise.”
