I gripped her sides tighter.

She started to squirm and giggle.

I put her back on her feet.

She still touched my face.

I touched her face.

I moved down and kissed her.

Harder. Faster.

It was a sweetly sloppy kiss.

In between kisses, we talked.

Quick.

“I love you,” I said to April.

“I love you too, Seb.”

“This is fucking insane, babe.”

“This is really insane,” she said.

We paused talking to kiss for a few extra seconds.

“There’s a problem though,” I said.

“We have a lot of those.”

“No, April. Your bags.”

We kissed for a few more seconds.

Then she touched my chest and broke the kiss for good.

She backed up and touched her lips.

Tracing lines around her own sweet, tender lips.

“My bags,” she said. “My gig is over.”

“With the health bars that almost killed me?”

“First off, nothing almost killed you,” she said. “You had an allergic reaction. Nothing bad happened. Or at least nothing too bad. And, yeah, the gig is over with the health bars. I showed up today and she wanted to do candles instead.”

“Candles?”

“I thought I was going to die when I smelled them. It was so overpowering. But anyway, my boss called me to say the contract was terminated. And the big boss called Sabrina to tell her the same. She was fine with it. Everything is okay there. But… for me…”

“Your bags are packed,” I said. “Meaning you’re expected to leave.”

“Expected…”

“And you couldn’t have maybe fallen in love with me a few years ago? Ten years ago? Something that would have made this a little easier?”
