This time when I break, I don’t come back from it, and I cry myself to sleep, my heart even more broken than my body.
All I can hope for is that wherever they are, they’re together, and they fight with everything they have. Just like I did.

Warmth covers my hand, spreading down my arm and I squeeze, letting her know that I’m here.
My heart swells.
She came back to me. After all that bullshit, she’s here. She’s holding my hand.
We’re going to be okay.
She’ll understand why I withheld the truth about the situation we’re in, and she’ll forgive me.
Then somehow, we’ll find the cunts who did this to her, and after we’ve shown them exactly what we’re capable of, we can go skipping off into the sunset.
Maybe we could all return to Vegas and I could really enjoy it this time. I could be the one who comes home with a wife and the promise of forever together.

I’ll talk to my dad and Damien, tell them that my time seducing intel out of anyone they deem fit is over, and I’ll figure out another way to make myself useful.
Evie and I can start uni. She can move in with me and we can spend our nights studying and fucking and planning our lives together.
Is she a cat or a dog person?
And if it’s the latter, like me, can we get one?
We could take him for a walk before classes and watch the sunrise over the city. We could train him together and teach him that Nico is evil and watch him attack—in a friendly way, of course—and laugh as he wrestles with the ball of fur.
We can babysit my niece when she’s born, take her to the park and watch her grow.
Double dates with Daemon and Calli.
Holidays as a group. Parties and game nights, football games and movie nights.
I want all of it. I want everything with my girl and my best friends by my side.
But as much as I crave it, something in my subconscious knows it’s unreachable as I think about all the possibilities.
It’s not, though. It’s right there. It’s within touching distance.
