I chuckled. “I do. More than I believed possible. You want to hear it again?”

Mia stepped back up to me, sliding her arms around my neck and tilting her head back to look into my eyes.

“Yeah, I do,” she said happily. “Every day, actually.”

“I love you,” I said, and the words felt right, as did this woman in my arms.

I couldn’t believe that it took me this long to say them. I’d been crazy about this woman since before I even asked her to be my fake wife. I just wasn’t open to the possibility of love, until now. With her.

It turned out Grandpa was right about that.

When you know, you know.

EPILOGUE

Mia

I stepped out onto the deck, taking a deep breath. I never realized how pure and fresh the air was outside of the city, but since arriving in Colorado yesterday afternoon, I couldn’t get enough of it.

The backdoor of the cabin behind me opened, and I turned with a small smile on my face. Logan stepped out with a steaming mug of hot tea in his hand.

“Three teaspoons of honey, just the way you like it,” he said, handing the drink over to me.

“Thanks. I just didn’t have patience for making it, not when there’s such an amazing view to look at.”

I took a small sip of my drink, my eyes shifting to the mountain nearby. It was a looming peak, peppered with green trees and lit up by the rising sun. The sky was painted in shades of pink, orange, and yellow, and the lake just beyond the deck where we were standing reflected the colors.

It was the most gorgeous thing I’d ever seen.

“I liked the view in bed last night,” Logan said, coming up behind me and putting his arms around my waist to pull hips to his.

His lips went to the side of my neck, and I giggled. “Are you trying to seduce me Mr. Reid?”

“What if I am, Mrs. Reid?” he murmured wickedly. “Isn’t that what a honeymoon is for?”

“Yeah,” I conceded. “I guess it is.”

It had been three months since our backyard wedding, and we were finally going on our honeymoon. Logan had been planning to do it much sooner, but then, his Grandpa took a turn for the worse. We didn’t want to leave the city as his health deteriorated.

He passed away after a month of being bedridden. It was faster than the doctors predicted, and Logan took that hard, but after a lot of late-night talks about it, we’d determined that faster was better when it came to a fatal illness that was affecting the man so much. If he’d lingered for much longer, it would have just been weeks or months of him suffering. No one wanted that.

Still, it was painful for Logan and the whole family. Patrick was a good man, and he was missed by everyone, including me. Logan couldn’t even think about a honeymoon for a while, and I completely understood that.

But time had passed, and the two of us had focused on our relationship, making it stronger. We were starting out as a married couple, having skipped a few steps in the dating process. It took some work to get things on the right track for us, but we already loved each other, so we were able to figure the rest of it out.

It helped that Logan was finally open to commitment, letting go of the past and all the ugliness he’d witnessed in his parents’ marriage. That helped improve his relationship with his mom too, which was good because it turned out that Jacquie and my own mother became fast friends after the wedding dress shopping experience. So, she was a bigger part of our lives than we anticipated.

“So, what do you want to do today?” Logan asked, and I sat my mug down on a nearby patio table before turning to face him.

“Actually, I wanted to tell you something. You might want to take a seat.”

I was nervous about this conversation but after I had been caught trying to sneak out of the house without telling him, Logan had made me promise to never keep anything important like that from him again. So, I was going to fulfill that promise now.

I just hoped it didn’t ruin our honeymoon.

“Is everything okay?” he asked, lowering himself onto a cushioned patio chair.

“That depends on how you look at it.” I sat down across from him. “You know how I recently switched from morning coffee to morning tea?”
