This is bad …this is …my panic came, and I slowly crept out of bed and went into the bathroom to douse myself with cold water from the shower.
When I returned to the bed, Tommy was waiting for me, and he had a seductive smile that entrapped me. I let him make love to me again that night, and by morning my body was still dancing to the pleasure tunes he set when I snuck out of the room and went for a morning run to clear my head.

Leahwasnotinthe house the next morning, and it was afternoon when I finally decided to look for her. I woke up that morning wishing I could kiss her again. The spot beside me on the bed lay empty, and I hurried down to the kitchen to see if I could catch her there, but she wasn’t there either.
Lakewood was a relatively safe town, so I didn’t have to worry much about her safety. It was her thoughts I was worried about.
What is she thinking about?We made love, and I suspected she was freaking out.
All of these feelings were new to me too. I never imagined that I would crave my daughter’s best friend ever, but here I was thinking about her.Her scent … her touch.
When she sat with me on the porch last night, my heart felt at ease. I hadn’t been that relaxed in a very long time, and it was confusing that she stirred these feelings in me.
I hadn’t felt passion or such caring emotions for any woman since Lisa. All these years, I kept my dating casual. A few dates, a few nights in bed, and that was it. I never promised a woman anything because my heart was no longer open to caring.
Leah is changing all of that and I find myself thinking about her all the time.
The first place I thought to check was Belly Row, and luckily, Leah was there, chatting with the customers and waiting tables for Cherry.
“Look it’s Tommy,” I heard Cherry say when I got to the counter. Leah had her back to me at first and she didn’t turn even after Cherry’s announcement.
“Hi, Cherry,” I greeted with a warm smile. “Things looking good around here.”
“Thanks to the lovely, Leah,” Cherry answered. “The girl brings a lot of joy everywhere she goes. She’s been helping me all morning and entertaining the guests with her sweet voice.”
Cherry squealed, and she turned away from the counter again. Once I was alone there, I called Leah. “Leah, are you going to look at me?”
“What?” she gasped as she turned around. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes wide, and I noticed how she fidgeted with the tray she held.
“You’re going to drop that and break it,” I said to her before letting my gaze sweep down her body. She was wearing a simple t-shirt over tights, and her hair was tied in a bun.
“Are you trying to avoid me?”
“What? No?” she answered with a shrug and a dry laugh followed. “Why would I do that?”
“You know why,” I answered immediately.
“Would you like a piece of cake or an apple pie?” she asked, preening not to hear me. I tapped my fingers on the counter and stared at all the pastries they had in the display glass. “Some scones please,” I requested instead. “I want it served by you though, and I’d like it if you could sing for me.”
Her gaze snapped to mine, and she gritted her teeth. “What are you doing?” she queried as her jaw tightened.
“You were singing for the other customers,” I pointed out. “I want you to do the same for me.”
“Tommy,” she called through tight jaws again, but I turned away from the counter and found a seat.
“It’s just a song, Leah and we both know you’re not shy.”
She rolled her eyes after I said the words, then slammed her hands on the table gently. “Fine, but just one song.”
“Fine by me.”
Leah reluctantly brought me the scones, then she stood by my table and forced on a smile. I smiled too and held back a giggle as I listened to her sing a short verse from one of her songs, then she spun around and hurried into the kitchen again.
After finishing my scones, I checked to see if she had come back out, but she was nowhere in sight.
“Have you seen, Leah?” I asked Cherry when I got to the counter. “I want to give her a fat tip for her good services.”
