“Hi brother,” she said in a cute voice, then turned to me. “I have to admit, he’s cuter than me when I was little.”
We both laughed, and I walked over to Tommy’s side to hug him when Danielle took Luke into the kitchen.
“Did you know she was coming?” I asked Tommy after hugging him and kissing his cheek.
“I knew how much you missed her, and when she told me she was coming for your birthday, I thought it would be a great surprise. The only problem is she had an issue with her flight, so she got here three days later.”
“It doesn’t matter that she’s late. What matters is that she’s here,” I said before kissing Tommy. “I love you, Tommy, always.”
“And I love you.”
This was a perfect life, and it was more than I had ever dreamed of.
