My torturer is coming for me again.

My hands are pinned to the wall as I try to fight them.

A dark, brooding voice barks, “Nova, stop, it’s me!” but it’s lost in the haze. “Fuck this,” the voice mutters, and then suddenly something warm starts building inside me.

Hands drag along my sides, pulling me closer, and then lips are on mine. The shock of it causes me to freeze, and the softness invades my thoughts. The person deepens the kiss as they nip my lip, making me gasp before they sweep their tongue into my mouth. Each touch, each breathy moan and rub of their lips yank me back from my nightmares until I feel the cool tile of the bunker under my feet and the heat of a large body before me.

Thick hands caress my body until my clit throbs in time with my wild heartbeat. My head is tilted back, and something unmovable and hard is pressed to every inch of my front. The kiss pulls me from the abyss, and then it’s over.

The person pulls away, so I slowly blink my eyes open.

“Nico,” I whisper, and he pulls me closer, cradling my head to his chest.

“Thank fuck,” he rasps, holding me.

I’m still dazed as my hand drifts to my lips.

He kissed me.

Nico kissed me.

Pulling back, he frames my face with his large hands and peers into my eyes. “Are you okay?” he asks worriedly.

I nod, and he frowns.

“I’m okay,” I say, my voice hoarse. “You kissed me. Why?”

He swallows, his eyes drop to my lips for a moment, and when he speaks, his voice is silky and low. “It was the only thing I could think of to bring you back.”

“That’s the only reason?” I flirt, my lips tipping up into a smirk.

His own part in a grin as he holds me against him, letting me feel the evidence of his desire. “Maybe, maybe not.”

“Nico! There you are! Is she okay?” Louis barks, and I hear the others running towards us, but I’m still trapped in Nico’s dark gaze. His eyes tell me a whole story full of his worry and desire, and then he blinks, and just like that, a shutter comes down and he steps back.

I instantly miss his heat, so I wrap my arms around myself and turn to the others as they stop before us. They look me over before turning to Nico.

“I’m okay.” I sigh. “I got lost in the memories is all.”

“I know. We saw,” Isaac hedges, wincing when I shoot him a look.

We become quiet then, none of us knowing what to say. After all, they just saw some of my deepest darkest secrets.

“Your dad was a real prick,” Jonas finally says, breaking the silence.

I can’t help it. I burst into laughter.

“Yes, yes he was,” I agree.

FIFTEEN

She stands at my side, and her laughter fills the air, putting us all at ease. I thought we had broken her. I thought we had finally done what her own father couldn’t. She was trapped there, and she didn’t even see me—she saw him.

I know that feeling.

My own PTSD and nightmares are similar, and I learned how to bring myself back from them the hard way. I couldn’t do that to her, and kissing her was the only idea I had, though a part of me can admit I’ve wanted to do it since I met her. I should feel guilty that I took advantage of the situation, but I don’t. How could I with her sweetness still on my lips?

I look down at her. Her eyes sparkle with amusement, and her body shakes with it. She’s just as beautiful as when I first saw her.
