“I’ve received word from the original Savage Kings’ chapter that in response to the…tiff with the Devil Hounds kidnapping one of our prospects, they’ve voted on the retribution, and it was unanimous…”

“Retribution?” I blurt out. “Like hurting the Devil Hounds?”

“No,” Remy says. “We’re not going to lay a finger on the Devil Hounds. We’re just taking their patches.”

“What the fuck?” Thane exclaims.

“The Hounds have a choice – disband or become a member of our Rockland chapter of the Savage Kings.”

“All of the members?” Colt asks. “They have a ton, right? Like, nearly every male in Clayton over the age of eighteen?”

“No offense to you or who you all take orders from, but there is no way Isaac will agree to a patch over,” Thane says. “He would rather die than give up the Devil Hounds.”

“Thane’s right. He’s RJ’s husband, and Isaac is going to be my father-in-law again someday,” Bear explains. “We can’t start a war with their club!”

“It’s out of our hands,” Remy tells him. “Enforcers and bodies from the other Savage Kings chapters will be coming up in a few weeks to help make the transition. We’re not to say a word to the Devil Hounds before then.”

“Ah, then why did you invite Thane to the meeting?” I ask.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Remy says. “I didn’t invite him to the meeting. He must have overheard us after we welcomed him into the family, right?”

“Goddamn it,” Thane says as he gets to his feet. “I need to go talk to Isaac.”

“Nobody here is stopping you, are they?” Remy asks.

“I don’t get it,” I say to Thane when I stand up too.

“Your brother found a sneaky way to do the Devil Hounds a favor. Now, we have some time to figure out what to do.”

“If there’s a war…” I start.

“If there’s a war, it would be a great time for you two to take off out of town for a honeymoon,” Remy suggests.

“No. I’m not leaving my family,” I tell him.

“If this can’t be resolved peacefully, then I’ll never be on any side but yours, RJ. Until then…” Thane trails off.

“You’ve got a president to warn. I get it. Go. See you back at the house tonight?”

Grabbing the sides of my face, he kisses me right there in front of the entire table and says, “Tonight and every night for the rest of our lives. I love you, RJ.”

“I love you too,” I tell him before he takes off out the door.

The end for now…
