“Any update with Dustin?” Great timing for an important question.

“He’s in great spirits, and that’s the most important thing. He’ll be coming home in three weeks, so I’ll be out of here to pick him up from the airport when that is. The lawyer is going to meet me there with Courtney.” I shake my head. “So I’ve been on my best behavior for the most part.”

“I like how you told Evan you’re like my uncle.” Sadie’s laugh is nervous. I know she really didn’t like it.

“I didn’t know what else to say. And in ways, your Dad would consider me that to you and your sister.”

“But you’re not related to us, and we didn’t grow up with you around.”

“Sadie, I know how much being together can make sense. But none of it is relevant anymore.”

She shrugs as I turn the air on. “Why was Evan over at your place anyways?”

“More crazy stuff. Apparently, Courtney reached out to him.”

“Really? Why? How does she know Evan?”

“She doesn’t. I’ve shared with her how he used to give me unwanted wedgies, called me a bastard, and said a handful of other harmful things that stung me as a child. But she apparently went down Hillpike’s Facebook page and tried to identify everybody in my life. She messaged Evan asking him for any dirt he may have on me.”

“Are you serious?” Sadie sounded more appalled than I was.

“Well, get this, Sadie. Surprisingly he reached out to me about it.”

“Hmm. Do you trust him?”

“No, I don’t trust him, so I asked him to stop by and prove it. But see, this is after I tried teaching him how to take a screenshot. He doesn’t know how to take a screenshot.” I shake my head and refrain from calling him an idiot.

“So it was all true, huh?”

“Unfortunately, it was. But, now I have more information to use against her in court. I really wish she’d grow the fuck up, so we can co-parent like normal human beings who decide to move on with their lives.” I sigh.

“I’m sorry, Freddy. Women…well, people can be nuts, and I wish you didn’t have to deal with that. In the long run, it’s poor Dustin that’s going to have to deal with this.”

“Bingo, and somehow Dustin’s mother doesn’t care about that,” I mutter. It’s quite sad that Sadie can figure this out, and Courtney responds like the young one. I really wouldn’t mind sharing some intimate time with Sadie right now. She does a great job of getting these things off my mind. God, just to feel her again.

“Why are you driving so slow?” she asks.

“It’s a beautiful night,” I respond.

“Then can we shut the air off and roll down the windows?”

I oblige as I don’t want to give myself away entirely. I wonder if she wouldn’t mind us going up one of the seven hills in Hillpike that give us a stunning view of the stars. And just as soon as I start to drive toward that way, she knows what’s going on.

“There are people Savannah’s age up there in cars trying to make out. Do you really want to see stars right now, or do you want to make out?”

Her forwardness is an utter turn-on.

“I should take you home. You’re not feeling that well.”

Besides how flushed her face looked when I opened the door at the motel, I didn’t notice any sickness from her. I rather her tell me how much she misses me, how badly she wants me.

“It comes and goes in waves. I’m unsure what it is, but taking me home is fine.” She turns her body closer to mine and places her left hand on my leg. My blood’s bumping now. Why does she do this to me?

“Sadie…what doyouwant to do?”

Her high ponytail gives me a full view of her neck. I’m tempted to peck at it as I know from the last few times of doing so that it drives her absolutely wild. It’s her spot. More than anything, I want to find a place to park this car and make love to her.

“How was your time with my boss yesterday?”
