“Go take those ones. You’ll have an unobstructed view of me from there.”

She plants a kiss on my cheek.

“Good luck Ris,” she says with a smile.

With haste, I push through the crowd of people to the backstage area. The moment I burst through the doors, there’s a swarm of assistants on me.

“Are all of my instruments ready?”

“Yes, everything’s been taken care of.”

I spend the next five minutes taking deep breaths, warming up my voice before my cue comes to hit the stage.

Showtime.

I march out onstage to a thunderous applause, bowing to the audience as my jinrayaha is rolled out behind me. I glance at Sienna and Ezra, full of joy as they clap for me.

Here we go,I think as I take my seat.

The crowd goes quiet as I begin hitting the introductory notes to a new song. For a minute, I let the people in attendance focus on the instrumental before I begin singing, looking straight at Sienna.

“A love I once thought was gone, long lost to time, now I’m a father to a son I call mine.”

Her face lights up, taking me down memory lane to where she used to watch me two years ago.

“True love is to be in your arms, where I can keep you free from all harm.”

I continue singing as I transition the instrumental into the next song.

I can’t wait to see her reaction for this one.

I begin hitting the same notes that I did that day with Ezra. I look up, seeing him rise to his feet and clapping for me while jumping up and down. Then, I look to Sienna.

There’s a certain glint in her eyes, as if it’s all finally clicking for her. I smile, thinking she now knows I’m writing about my own life. I wonder if I’ll even need to confess everything to her after the show.

Maybe these lyrics are telling her everything she needs to know.

Sienna turns her head away, then turns back with red blushing cheeks akin to that of her dress. Beside her, Ezra continues to lose his mind, trying to sing along.

“So now you know, my heart is true, it’s for no one else, no one but you.”

The time comes for me to finish my final song. The crowd erupts into a standing ovation when I rise from my seat. Through it all, it’s like the spotlight is pointed at Sienna for she’s all I can see.

I wonder if knows just how much I love her after that performance.

With a final bow, I exit the stage, quickly doing all I need to do before leaving for the main auditorium. The moment I enter, Sienna and Ezra are waiting right there for me.

“You were great, Ris!” she exclaims, kissing my cheek.

“You think so?”

“I know so,” she says, our eyes locked in a kiss of their own.

“Mama, backstage please?” asks Ezra.

We peer down at our son who looks up at us like a batlaz puppy.

“Okay, but only if Dada goes with you.”
