He nods and extends a hand out to me. As I take it, I spot an approaching Cyra making her way over. I turn to leave, guiding Ezra through an endless crowd toward the backstage doors.

“Oh, maybe I can take Sienna back there too,” I mutter.

I turn around just in time, my stomach turning as a familiar hand reaches out to Sienna. The mother of my children is ripped away from her conversation with Cyra. Everyone around them is oblivious.

Cyra gets swept away by the crowd before she has the chance to do anything. My eyes follow Sienna as she’s dragged away by the arm by my sister.

“Rhovier!” I shout.

The crowd is too loud for Rhovier to hear me. Panicking, I turn to Ezra.

“Stay with me, your mom’s in trouble!”

I push through the crows, my grip tightening on my son's hand. My vision repeatedly gets obscured by fans asking for autographs, declining their requests as I see Rhovier disappear into a hallway connecting to the alleyways.

I fight through until we come to the hallway doors. There’s no one here, meaning they’ve already made it outside.

“Quick, let’s go Ezra!”

We jog to the doors that lead outside, slowing our pace as we come closer. I gesture for Ezra to remain quiet as I listen to what’s going on outside. My heart races as I hear a slap, followed by the yelp of Sienna.

“I told you that he was to never find out about the child!” screams Rhovier. “I wasn’t kidding around when I said you’d be silenced permanently.”

Hearing Sienna squeal in pain, I kick the doors open, running through them to face my sister.

“Hold it right there!”

SIENNA

Ilay on the ground with a bloodied mouth. Rhovier stands over me, the both of us staring over in disbelief at Ris and Ezra. Tears flow down my face as I cover myself in shame, horrified that my own son has to see me like this.

Through my hands, I peek again at Ezra. He glares at Rhovier with a fiery expression worn over his face. I guess it took only one look at me then at Rhovier’s bloody hand to figure out what was going on.

“Brother,” greets Rhovier, laughing nervously. “What are you doing out here?”

She steps in front of me as if Ris and Ezra haven’t already seen me as a bloody mess on the ground.

“You should be back in there enjoying yourself. I thought your performance was great-”

“Shut up,” says a defiant Ris. He too wears a look that could kill. “You know what Rhovier? I always knew you had it out for Sienna, but not once did I ever think you were capable of sinking this low.”

He and Ezra take a step closer. Though I lay on the ground, I feel the rising tension within the body of my assailant.

“That’s the mother of my child you just assaulted,” he snarls. “Now it’s clear to me,”

“Wh- What’s clear to you?” stutters a trembling Rhovier.

“Now I know why you were constantly distracting me from trying to find her, always booking me on repeat shows, getting me to practice… You’re scared, aren’t you?”

I rise to my knees, gazing up at Rhovier as she takes a nervous step back.

“All this time, you never cared for me, you just wanted the money and fame from being associated with me. Be honest with me sister, you were only out to protect yourself.”

“I- You don’t know what you’re talking about,” stammers Rhovier, bumping into a trash can.

“Stop playing dumb with me. Everyone in our family, fuck, everyone in this damned caste knows you’re a failed musician. That’s why you’ve insisted on being my manager for all of these years, so you can leech off of my growing success.”
