“Thank you,” she says.

“Are you ready to head out there my son?” asks Rocelot.

“Ready as I’ll ever be,” I reply, taking a deep breath.

“You’ve got this,” he affirms, patting me on the back. “We’re both immensely proud of you.”

“We remember this girl from a few years ago,” says Rhobuna. “We ran into her at one of your shows, very nice girl.”

“I’m glad you approve,” I chime, before casting a glance outside. “So they’re all out there waiting for me?”

“Yes my son, we’ll go on your cue, hang right behind you up until the altar, then break away to our seats as planned.”

“Okay,” I mutter, straightening myself up. “Let’s do this.”

With a nod, they take their places behind me as I come to the door leading out to the gardens. I close my eyes for a moment, picturing that I’m about to walk on stage for another performance, with Sienna as my fellow act. Smiling, I push the doors open.

I step out into a garden, lush with colors from green grass to blue and yellow flowers. The sun hangs high in the sky, giving us the best weather for our ceremony.

Running straight ahead of me is the aisle leading straight to the altar. On the sides sit rows of guests on a neatly arranged layout of chairs.

One by one, everyone turns to look at me. Among them I see Telnis and Benshobe, as well as others from Le Lazurt. Smiles form across their faces as I begin walking.

Sitting nearer to the altar is a group of fellow musicians from the theater, led by Thenzi. I shoot a subtle nod at him right before they begin a symphony.

My parents follow behind me as I approach the altar. Despite having been a performing artist for years, I’ve never felt so many eyes on me at once. Remembering the woman this is all for makes it all so worth it.

I come to the altar. It is white in color, with an arch lapping over where I’ll be standing with Sienna. From the arch hangs pink flowers. Arranged all around are mirrors for The Mother to see the wedding.

Waiting there for me is the high priest Shonak, whom I greet with a bow. He returns the gesture. He dons a glorious blue robe lined with golden designs and baggy sleeves.

“Thank you for being here,” I say.

“It is always a pleasure to unite two beings in love. Are you ready?”

“Very much so.”

“Good because your bride has just arrived.”

I turn around just in time to see Sienna make her presence known, stepping out of the same doorway that I entered through. On cue, the musicians break out into a different tune, this time playing gentler notes as if their music kisses the air.

Sienna is draped in a majestic white dress. Floral designs were woven into each part of it, from the bodice to the hemline. Her decolletage is on display with a low cut neckline.

The sleeves come to a stop just before the halfway point of her upper arm. Her shoulders are bare with the straps designed to fall down her arm. Through the lower part of her dress, the faint outline of her long legs can be seen.

A silver bridal circlet sits on her head, just about visible through a thin veil that comes down over her face and shoulders. Through it, I see her smiling as she walks up the aisle.

Walking by her side is her bridesmaid, Cyra. Sienna joins me at the altar, while Cyra breaks away to stand close to the nearest mirror.

I pull the veil away from Sienna’s face, throwing it over her head. Her smile is beautiful, brighter than the sun.

“You’re stunning,” I whisper.

“Not so bad yourself,” she replies.

Shonak comes closer and raises his arms as everyone rises to their feet.

“Dearly beloved,” he announces with a booming voice. “We are gathered here today in the Rusodosh residence, coming together in the presence of your families, the high priest, and the community with the intention of entering into marriage.”
