“You’re never leaving me. Even if you did, I’d find you. There isn’t anywhere on this planet you could hide where I wouldn’t find you,” he grits out through clenched teeth.

“Is that a threat?”

“No. It’s a promise. Now shut the fuck up and come here. I’m done with your attitude for today,” he says. He pulls me along with him until we’re at the front of his vehicle.

He hops up onto the hood and then spreads his legs before pulling me in between them. He turns me so that my back is to his front and he has his arm wrapped around me by the collar bone. A second later his two friends, Asher and Axel, join us and they all greet each other.

“Hey, man,” Asher says.

“What’s good, dude?” Axel asks.

“What’s good, bro? Good to see you both.” Knox replies.

“Hey, Raine. How’s it going?” Asher questions in greeting.

“Glad to see you’re okay,” Axel says next with what looks to be a sheepish expression on his face but one I’m not buying at all. I don’t trust these guys and maybe I never will. I don’t answer them and choose to stare at the front lawn and entrance to the school.

I can’t say that I’m surprised at what’s before me. The lawn is filled with students in the senior class and they’re all staring and whispering about us, I assume. Today should have been a regular day of school since no one except seven people know about what went down Friday night. The two who attacked me, Camryn, the guys and myself. I have no clue why they’re all out here waiting like this.

Maybe someone sent out an alert or some shit that I don’t know about. I haven’t checked that god-awful website in a few days since I was busy trying to survive. I have no idea if anyone even mentioned what went down Friday night or not. Now that’s just another thing I have to worry about.

“How’s Ez?” Knox asks Axel as I tune back into their conversation.

“I don’t know, man. They’re running tests. That asshole freaked me out when he collapsed on the field. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to get that sight out of my fucking head,” Axel says in what sounds like an anguished tone.

“Me either,” Asher says.

“Don’t worry. He’ll be fine. He has to be,” Knox says in what sounds like a vulnerable voice. I twist a little to look up at him and see that he looks sad and faraway, like he’s deep in thought.

“Yeah. If there’s anything I know, it’s that he’s a fighter,” I hear Asher say, but I’m too engrossed with Knox at the moment to pay much attention to him.

Knox looks down at me a moment later and a smile crosses his lips before he puts a hand on my shoulder and pulls me closer to him. He bends his head down a little and then his lips are on mine. It’s all I can think about right now.

It’s soft and sensual and unlike anything I’ve ever felt before. It’s a level of softness that I didn’t think he possessed. When he pulls back, I’m left dazed for a few seconds until I find my voice again.

“What are you doing?” I question.

“Showing them all that you belong to me,” he says.

“But I don—”

“Don’t care what that brain of yours says when I know differently,” he tells me in a firm tone.

I spin back around, not wanting to deal with this shit again. We’ve already been over it once this morning. It’s like his skull is thick as a rock because he’s not getting what I’m saying.

As soon as I’m facing the front again, my eyes clash with Ivy’s. If fire-breathing dragons were a thing, she’d be one, and I’d already be on fire right now. I can’t miss the look of venom and hate as she walks past the lawn.

She’s either really brave or a complete idiot who thinks everything revolves around her. She has no self-preservation whatsoever because she walks up to us. Or maybe I’m the idiot here and he’ll choose her and then tell me it’s all been just another joke. Who the hell knows? I guess I’ll just have to wait and see where this goes.

It’s subtle, but Asher and Axel both stand to attention and stand in a way that’s in front of Knox and me. Almost like they’re in a ready-for-battle position as she gets closer to us. When I peek up at Knox, he has a bored expression plastered on his face. He’s not even looking at her.

“Knox, baby. Why haven’t you been answering my calls? What are you doing with this loser?” she asks nicely and then spits venom when she addresses me.

“In case you don’t remember, I said from the fucking beginning that I wasn’t looking for any kind of relationship except for fucking,” he tells her in a calm but deadly tone.

I stiffen at his words because it’s a reminder that he’s probably fucked the entire senior class by now and that instantly turns my stomach. She must see my expression because she turns an evil smile at me. I don’t know why when he literally just called her a cum bucket to her face.

Ewww! Omg!
