“What’s up?” I ask when they share a look then look back at me.

“We’ve both gotta do our interviews, but then let’s head back to Brady’s place,” Lee says.

I shake my head. “I got somewhere I gotta be.”

Brady nods as though expecting my answer. “We know, but you can’t go see her without a plan, man.”

My eyes narrow. “What are you talking about?” I cross my arms and stare down my nose at him.

“Look, we both know the signs… you fucked up in some way,” Brady says.

“We’ve both been there.” Lee shrugs.

Brady counts his points off on his fingers. “You’re pissier than usual, your head wasn’t in the game, you look like you lost your best friend, you’re…” He trails off when he sees the look I’m giving him, then raises his hands. “It’s nothing to be ashamed of. Lee and I have been there. Now it’s our turn to help you with your grand gesture.”

“I don’t need a grand gesture,” I grumble, not really believing my words.

Lee claps me on the shoulder. “You always need a grand gesture when you screw up large. You read that romance book, so surely you must know that.”

I roll my eyes. He’s right though. It worked for Lee and Brady when they messed up royally with Shayna and Violet.

“Fine. I’ll meet you at your place.” I don’t let them say anything else, instead pushing past them to head back to the locker room to grab my stuff.

They were able to win their girls back. I can only hope I’ll be able to do the same.

A couple hours later, we’re seated in Brady’s living room, nursing some beers, when Violet brings in Brady’s laptop.

“Here you go.” She sets it on the coffee table and swings her gaze my way briefly before straightening.

I want badly to ask what, if anything, Twyla has said to her about me, but I don’t want to put her in an uncomfortable position.

“Thanks, babe.” Brady gives her hand a brief squeeze.

“I’m going to take Theo to the park so that you guys can have some privacy,” she says.

“Sounds good, thanks.”

Once Violet and Theo are out of the house, both guys turn their attention to me.

“I’m gonna loop Miles in on a video chat so he can chime in on this too,” Brady says.

I groan and push a hand through my hair. “Really? You think that’s necessary?”

“Of course it is. You and Miles are good now, and who better than her brother to tell you how to get back on her good side?”

He has a point, as much as I wish he didn’t. “Fine,” I grumble.

Brady does his thing on his laptop and patches Miles in on a video call, setting the laptop on the coffee table. I get up off the chair and walk around to sit in the middle of the couch between Lee and Brady.

“Hey, man,” I say when he comes on-screen. I feel as though an extra layer of guilt has been painted on my skin.

“Look at you three. This must be serious,” he says good-naturedly.

I whip my head to my right to look at Brady. “You didn’t tell him why we’re calling?”

“Nah, I figured you could do that.” He shrugs.

I groan and tip my head back, scrubbing my hands over my face.
